I've read a few ancient texts written by philosophers and monks, they always speak about how to develop sexual and physical resistance towards women, but never about being emotionally independant from them. Perphaps because men of that era thought of women as inferior and unreliable, so they never had to deal with that problem. But today, we know that it's not true. Male loneliness epidemic is a well known phenomenon, not just on 4chan and the internet, but it is heavily spoken about and researched in real life. Men want to be loved by women, and are suffering because of it. So, how does a man overcome his 'desire to be loved by a woman'? Any contemporary works that tell you how you can do this?
>>
>>24749054
I actually might write a history book on the phenomenon once I get my BA

Hahaha. I've yet to meet a woman that is not an NPC.

No, I only look up to men. Women can't provide the kind of intellectual nourishment that I need.

>>
>>24749054
Personally I like freedom and independence. When I was with another person I often had to consider her feelings, do things for her, it was kind of fulfilling at first but later it became tiresome. Having to wake up early every morning, having to go to bed late, having to listen to her constant talking about nothing in particular, just spending time together became tiresome and irritating. I am now single, I do what I want when I want. I often wonder how married couples manage to stay sane for many years without their lives turning into a living hell.

Easily refuted by: Just go out and crush some pussy like a man, wtf is wrong with everyone ITT, log off and go fuck something, it's not hard.

I already did that. I thought this feeling would go away if I just slept with a lot of women, but then I met this woman who I was really nice and got attached to her the more I spent time with her.

When you have shit social skills at 43 it definitely is. Thats why I don't see what the big deal is with western society putting the act of rape on a pedestal as the most egregious act you can commit. Its definitely less worse than murder or suicide and people need to reassess their priorities.

My Brother the other day I saw a dwarf holding the hand of his girlfriend who has some kind of bone disease and was in a motorized wheelchair. Love is like water and finds itself at every level if you are open to it. Plenty of middle aged socially awkward women.

They become your family eventually. The type of feelings that people yearn for in young love are infatuation and dissolution of the self. It’s a good thing to experience because it makes a strong romantic base but the longer you are with a person the more you have to labor in love. It’s worth it to be sure but the fleeting feeling of infatuation in young love is like a neurobiological hook that some people spend their whole lives trying to recreate. People trying to experience young love in their 30s are going to be very disappointed. You’re too old at that point.

>It is inevitable to every noble mind, whether man or woman, to feel itself, of itself, imperfect and insufficient, not as an animal only, but as a moral being. How wonderfully, then, has Providence contrived for us, by making that which is necessary to us a step in our exaltation to a higher and nobler state! The Creator has ordained that one should possess qualities which the other has not, and the union of both is the most complete ideal of human character. In everything the blending of the similar with the dissimilar is the secret of all pure delight. Who shall dare to stand alone, and vaunt himself, in himself, sufficient? In poetry it is the blending of passion with order that constitutes perfection: this is still more the case in morals, and more than all in the exclusive attachment of the sexes.

>Men want to be loved by women, and are suffering because of it.
This sentiment is codependent and itself the poison ground for all kinds of sociopathic behavior, like addictions, abuse, even crime. When you "need" the love of another, you will attract only the worst and repel any healthy person. If you can't be happy by yourself, you will NEVER be happy.

Maybe, but even in a secure relationship you'd want to be loved and would be possesive of that person. It's not like if your partner wanted to leave you, or worse, was with another person, you'd say "oh, well" and get over your relationship, especially if it was a long-term relationship with kids involved.

>Perphaps because men of that era thought of women as inferior and unreliable, so they never had to deal with that problem. But today, we know that it's not true.

This is true but not as implied: specifically, we haven‘t discovered they‘re really as good as us but rather we have been brought down to their level. Warrior bonds among men used to really satisfy the emotional support component of human needs as natural counterpoint to going through violence and danger together. And by contrast it‘s really, really hard to let yourself feel vulnerable with somebody who hasn‘t been watching your back while you watch his in the literal sense of the phrase.

That is a nice idealistic view, but you can't deny that men and women are having problems with each other, even in, if not more in egalitarian societies like west. Ofcourse it is not to say that, women are to be blamed for it, or that equality is bad. Just making an observation.
>>
>>24751361
I don't think Coleridge's comment has anything to do with political or social equality. If anything, Coleridge is saying that the differences between men and women, which are responsible for that inequality, are what provide the necessary contrast.
>>
>>24751366
He does seem to be imply that union of both is not just complete but is also of a higher nobler state. He also suggests that this something to be really happy about. That doesn't seem to be case in today's society, where men want to go back to older times. And women would naturally prefer not to. It feels like "happiness" and "perfection" from only one side, while ignorance from the other.
>>
>>24751381
I don't understand what you're trying to say. The union between man and woman doesn't necessarily have political connotations, and it's just as possible today as in any other time, because human nature remains the same.
>>
>>24751393
True. But to what extent was this union based on mutual agreement with a true understanding of the nature of relationship? Would women who tasted freedom go back to relationships of the past? You are right that a relationship doesn't have to be between two equals. But two enteties must want each other to form a relationship in the first place. Do women of today want men as much as men want them? If that were true, men of today wouldn't need to impose themselves on women. The relationship of the past was built on ignorance from one side.

Hmm. I had a 'mystical' experience with the Virgin Mary. I only quotate it because in any other age it would be regarded as such, but in this day with our understanding of psychology it would be labeled psychosis, hallucination, dissociation, something like that. I even can view it in this way, but in light of what the experience produced, a deep peace and path in life, I prefer to think of it in a more trusting and mystical way. In modern terms this is cognitive dissonance, in religious terms... it's asking for a leap of faith.
Disclaimer, I match all the criteria for a schizoid personality disorder so you can wikipedia that.
What the experience was plainly was this; I was suicidal and crying on my couch. I reached the point where I was just completely desperate and praying to God for just something. I remember my thought process but it's too much to explain, unless anyone is curious, the point is I just thought 'there must be something, God or some immense inner power I have that is infinite, some amazing fire and beauty'.
I imagined myself tearing open my heart, like you'd rip open a shirt, for whatever out there might be good.
Then I literally physically felt a gentle, affectionate, I insistent hand on my heart and in my head sounded the words 'Your mother is here'. And in my 'imagination/inner-eye' (though it was inserted, I didn't create it, consciously) I saw a beautiful woman, in blue, that I was looking up at, like I was in her lap, she was smiling. And I felt loved. That's a very short version.
Like I said, this was the experience, I'm willing to concede it could be explained as mental disorder, what I'm not willing to concede is that I experienced it as I described I immediately identified it with the Virgin Mary. I was raised Catholic, and had in the past had some kind of faith, but I had never let these things into my inner experience.
This presence next to me felt familiar, like this central person I forgot. I remember thinking 'You are MY mother'. This relationship has actually superceded all other relationships in my life, friends, my normal mother who I barely even regard as such, romantic interests, even intellectual 'relationships' in terms of authors or philosophers I considered harbingers of truth.
Of course what reminded me of this from your post was that I'm now trying to detach myself from people and girls included. I I my look for her approval and affection. It's impossible to describe how freeing it is. Everyone is horrible, women included of course, they only look good. But we have to, as Jesus says, see the reality not appearances. I see heaven, the redemption of the world as when appearances and reality are back together. What looks good and we naturally want, is good.
We have to abstract ourselves from the world and live only in reference to the ideal.
Mary is perfectly patient, agapic loving, and beautiful. i have the benefit of this experience to firm my belief and understanding of what the ideal is.
>>
>>24753270
Cont. If anyone cares I'd love to talk about it. I'm pursuing a genuine path of agapic love, charity, faith. Sainthood. Christ.

why don't you all join the shakers? Make interesting furniture all day, worship god and don't fuck anything?

This violently expressive behavior soon made Shakers unwelcome in England and they migrated to the United States. There, they lived communally, embracing pacifism, equality of the sexes, and anti-slavery views decades before these were anywhere near the cultural mainstream. “The celibate Shaker ‘family’ was not one of blood relations; rather, all referred to themselves as brothers and sisters,” notes the National Park Service.

Inside Shaker communities, simplicity and hard work reigned. Labor and craftsmanship were seen as ways to worship God, and Shakers became known for producing high-quality furniture, food and household goods. Despite their celibacy, they had plenty of help. Shakers often raised orphans until adulthood. In addition, some people came into and left the community on a temporary basis, spawning the term “Winter Shakers” to describe those taken in by Shakers in exchange for their labor during the harsh New England winters.

Thanks for sharing, anon. Regardless of whether it was a genuine apparition or just a hallucination brought on by stress, that sounds like a lovely experience.
Closest thing I've ever had has been when the Hail Mary or Jesus Prayer randomly pop into my head while I'm lifting at the gym. It sounds really schizophrenic when I think about it but I like to imagine the Virgin Mary and my favorite saints, especially St. Therese of Lisieux, encouraging me when I'm exercising. When I decide to skip the gym I usually end up slipping into old sins anyway.
>>
>>24753343
A big part of me does want to join a community like this, I come from a disturbed family and my sister actually did join a non mainstream religious commune (still catholic). They are out there.
But I think I far better fit the role of the hermit. It's kind of central to my path that what's not seen or appreciated by people, is still worthy. So I want to center more on the aspect of the gospel that tells us to 'do good in secret' and 'not seek your reward on earth'.
But at the same time I'm realizing that Carmelites are the closest thing to kindred spirits I've found. A contemplative order. So I'm thinking on that.
>>24753347
In catholic terms it would be a locution, not an apparition. An inner experience that seems to come from another source. I mentioned the Carmelites, who model themselves after the prophet Elijah. Unlike Moses or other prophets he didn't see or hear anything that was from God, rather it was 'the still small voice within'. It's about the inner experience.
Also I love St. Therese. To go back to OP. She's a woman worthy of attention. Someone so sweet and sensitive and commited to Christ. Every man loves women. In Hebrew a wife was sometimes called a mans vessel, you want to trust parts of yourself to them and be received. What's disturbing men is that they're entrusting their affection to terrible women.
>>
>>24753347
Also don't worry about seeming schizophrenic. It's your faith that this family of Saints loves you and is with you.

To get rid of sexual needs you have to gradually:
1) Stop watching porn
2) take cold showers immediately after orgasming (this shocks the nervous system and fully cleanses the dick from semen, unlike warm showers)
3) Stop jacking off
4) use the excess energy to improve yourself
3) Stop looking sexually at women
4) get into SR
5) keep not jacking off, even if you get wet dreams
6) learn to become lucid during sexual dreams and stop the orgasm in time by waking up immediately.
7) reach a state where you have such control over your orgasms that your body can only reach them through deep sleep sexual dreams (sexual dreams that you don't remember and wich happen in a fully unconscious state). Don't let their frequency scare you into jacking off again
8) reduce the amount of hours you sleep at once to ~3hrs to prevent deep sleep orgasms.
9). Congratulations, you have reached SR godmode. Use the excess amount of hours to work on yourself and become the man a woman can only dream of.

>>
>>24749054
Chitanda is so nice. That faggot Houtarou didn't know how good he had it. As for your question.

It is likely impossible to overcome emotional needs through sheer agency of one's will. Just like it is impossible to overcome nutritional needs through the sheer agency of one's will. Sure you can force yourself to not eat, but you will eventually just die. However, if you observe the people who have lived celibate lives and have lived happily, it seems that they usually did so by spending their time mindfully, and it would also seem that they derived and focused on experiencing love through experiencing all kinds of beautiful things of the world. For example, monks tended (lovingly) to their gardens, daily rituals, prayer, and whatever else. They loved life itself, and that was enough sustenance for them. Same goes for those Christian saints. You will see examples of individuals who didn't feel a want for romantic or sexual intimacy yet it seemed as if they still experienced love by being in love with life itself (they called that the love for God).

However, it is also a bit perplexing how life has beautiful things like the experience of mutual love but at the same time life itself is also contrived in such a way that some individuals are fated to be forever deprived of experiencing such positive and good things of life. I suppose that's just how life is, it is a bit of a tragedy as a whole.

You are wrong Sir. Men and women both hate each other. They are not meant for each like Jewish religions have telling you. Pagans has right ideas about sexuality.

Male loneliness epidemic happened due to the increasing pussy slavery. Men are being raised by women. In past men shared their comradery with other men and it solved all of their problems. Now men think it's "gay" to hang out with your brothers. They prefer company of women over men. In no point in history men were this castrated. Even the homosexuality of contemporary times is womanly.

Gynocracy is the cancer of society. Men should not marry or have kids. Men should only shag women and move. All of the conversations that matter are for your males comrades. A woman will NEVER understand you.

I suggest all of my dear males, dear male friends to please seek out meaningful connections with other men in real life. A woman is nothing to you beyond sex dear male friend.

There's a brief and informative bit in the Rubaiyat that claims that a man in the arms of a woman is as close to god as he is ever likely to be this side of the grave.
It’s the one subject (and one subject only) of all real poetry:

Water to water, ark again to ark,
From woman back to woman

All poetry of value is matriarchal in origin. The most venerated poem in western history, the Iliad, starts off 'sing to me, O goddess'.

>Sir
tipped your hand there. Just kidding.

>>24749054
First of all it's necessary that you keep chastity of the body, the mind and the eyes

Schopenhauer said sexual passion is the kernel of the will to live:
>It is the cause of war and the end of peace, the basis of what is serious and the aim of the jest, the inexhaustible source of wit, the key to all allusions, the meaning of all mysterious hints, of all unspoken offers and all stolen glances, the daily meditation of the young, and often also of the old, the hourly thought of the unchaste, and even against their will the constantly recurring imagination of the chaste, the ever ready material of a joke, just because the profoundest seriousness lies at its foundation. It is, however, the piquant element and the joke of life that the secret concern of all men is secretly pursued and ostensibly ignored as much as possible. But, in fact, we see it every moment seat itself, as the true and hereditary lord of the world, out of the fulness of its own strength, upon the ancestral throne ...

Love is inseparable from sex, but I don’t think anyone will disagree with me how much you enjoy sleeping with someone depends on if you’re in love.
There is a great gulf separating the Iliad from the epic of Gilgamesh, the Akkadian creation epic, the Baal etc. - it wasn't written by an endowed temple priest who set himself to exalt the gods and praise his rulers, Homer is what I would call a true poet.
>>
>>24755138
>The will to live manifests itself indeed primarily as an effort to sustain the individual; yet this is only a step to the effort to sustain the species, and the latter endeavour must be more powerful in proportion as the life of the species surpasses that of the individual in duration, extension, and value. Therefore sexual passion is the most perfect manifestation of the will to live, its most distinctly expressed type; and the origin of the individual in it, and its primacy over all other desires of the natural man, are both in complete agreement with this.
Hesiod and Parmenides said very significantly that Eros (god of carnal love) is the first, the creator, the principle from which all things proceed
>>
>>24755140
>but I don’t think anyone will disagree with me how much you enjoy sleeping with someone depends on if you’re in love.

>A child is living proof of two people’s love for one another.
It is just a grotesque accident after the copulation of two needy victims.

some of these are not so bad and the inclusion of those weaker examples will undermine the strength of your point, and those who already wish to contradict you will be able to focus on them exclusively

Thomas Hardy said a lover without indiscretion is now lover at all.
What is the object of love, from the lowest to the highest forms of being, if not the perpetuation of the species? Reproduction is the ultimate purpose of every organism, and its strongest instinct; for only so can the will conquer death.
And to ensure this conquest of death, the will to reproduce is placed almost entirely beyond control of knowledge or reflection.

You and I only exist because two people, at some point, were in love. Even that gish gallop list rests on that simple fact.

A higher morality than the current is entailed on all poets: the morality of love. Without love he cannot be a poet in the final sense. Shakespeare sinned greatly against current morality, but he loved greatly. Milton's sins were petty by comparison, but his lack of love, for all his rhetorical championship of love against lust, makes him detestable.

I disagree with your view. I don't believe in love and evolution.

No, but you do believe in how babies are made (when a man and a woman love each other very much…)
