How many books can you read with speed reading?

Teddy Roosevelt used this method to devour tens of thousands of books, whilst retaining all information of importance. How do you achieve this?

You don't. It's been decently researched and the conclusion is that as reading speed goes up, comprehension goes down. This also tends to be the anecdotal conclusion by people who fall for the speed reading meme (like me).

Speed reading is mostly just learning to skim and identify what information is important to YOU. It works reasonably well with nonfiction and sort of works with fiction as long as you don't try and be right against anyone who actually read it. Mostly it is just reducing everything you read to yourself.

A wise man once told me that what really matters is knowing when to read fast and when to study a text

Speed reading is a meme.
