The prologue was good but it goes downhill from there. This book is only worth reading if you are really into pool or the penal system.

Billy and Jack were well-fleshed out characters, and Sally was a great antagonist in the final third.

she just comes out nowhere, falls into his lap and like a day later, they're married. like okay.

even the relationship between billy and jack is just out of nowhere

Do you not believe in spirits finding each other? Some people have instant bonds. All three characters felt imprisoned by society and the roles expected of them. That’s their connection.

She was mentally ill and left him almost immediately after they had the baby. She’s not exactly a normal person. Billy and Jack were tied together because of their pool house days, and they learned from each other. Billy saved Jack’s life because Billy knew he had nothing left in him left to give to the world. I found it very relatable.

>instant bonds
That wasn't shown in their youthful encounters tho, and as for Sally, it was just too convenient that she also just happened to be riding around in a Rolls Royce or whatever. It would have been more believable if she was more like him, instead of wow, looks like he won the lottery or something, gets fired and hops right into a Rolls Royce

I got memed into reading this piece of shit by this board a few years ago, the cover is nothing like the book, there's no muscle cars or even kino rainy setting, the MC goes prison gay with a nigger then is IRL gay when he gets out and there's other cuck shit and nigger worship, awful book
