Modern center-periphery relationships have been disjointed and dilluted into a million micro bubbles. A scene can't prop someone up beyond a couple hundred people and after that you need a marketing campaign that turns you into a conglomerate of micro-celebrities, the writer for one group but the emotional coach for another, and the funny cohost for another, and the curator of that thing, the organizer of this other.You can't just get succesful friends and live off their connections anymore, shit sucksl.
