>BTFOs most modern YA slop
Seriously why did young adults switch from comic books to shitty books like Harry Potter or Hunger Games? Comic books have way more depth, are better written, actually help young people grow into adults rather than keep them in a state of mentally stunted manchildren.
>>
comics were the first entertainment for men to be subverted. I like them but all the modern slop is shit too.
>>
Women never read comic books and women are the bread and butter of YA
>>

My friend likes graphic novels quite a bit. Thinking of getting him some this Christmas.
>>
>>24765291
people will keep acting that adults reading 2cent novels is the end of high culture as if it wasn't the case ever since the invention of the printing press.
Out of your own volition you get on socials and get mad about what other people are reading, because you have no actual gist of what's important in life.

Posters like OP are clearly underage b&, still navigating which mode of consumptions will render them cool & authentic. That or boring losers that never grew out of that stage.

Keep occupying yourself with other people. Stay mad. Reading out of spite will not last you long, all the while those you consider less than you get the joy of the text.

And the most drole thing is they never think about you. Not at all.
>>
>>24765291
The ending fucking sucks, this shit is on the same level as kingslop (I like the art doe)
>>
Long Halloween isn't good even on capeshit comic standards.
>>
There hasn't been a proper YA phenomenon since The Hunger Games. YA as an institution was really only a thing in the 2000s and early '10s anyways; it was a much more niche genre before Harry Potter. After Hunger Games it morphed into romantasy.
>>
>>24765588
2cent novels were cool
Bradbury cool write great stories because he was also writing about space nerds getting isekai'd into barbarians that punch and kiss hot ladies.
>>
>>24767211
You are talking about the 2cent novels that survived the chopping block. There are thousands of titles people forgot and never got a reprint. Just like today.
>>
>>24767220
no, I'm talking about cheap literary magazines that you can find on archive.org because no one even bothered renewing the copyright when the laws changed.
>>
>>24765291
I would take you seriously if you posted a comic other than one published by DC. DC has always been miles behind every other publisher in the industry (yes, even Marvel) and the few DC comics people praise to hell and back like Watchmen are just worse versions of things that already existed in the UK. They basically had to poach writers from 2000AD to gain any bit of relevancy and even then they shot themselves in the foot by pissing off Alan Moore. DC doesn't BTFO YA slop, they are the YA slop.
>>
>>24767228
Still somebody bothered to archive them, just like some of the slop today will be considered not complete shit in few decades time and may get a second life in some form.
I never said all 2cent are bad. Only copious enough to make the analogy to the slop of today, which again may have some hidden gems. It's too soon to tell. I don't know where you got the sense I am bad mouthing any lit, as I said, there is 0 reason to get mad about mass culture apart from being a literal teenager or a frankfurt school hardliner.
>>
The Dark Knight Returns is really good
>>
>>24766337
I think The Dark Knight almost saved the ending of Long Halloween, but by not making TDKR a true adaptation of Dark Victory, with Gotham City finally falling into the hands of the freaks, all that Long Halloween shit from TDK doesn't matter.
I know it's /tv/ and not /co/, but this era of Gotham City allows some of the coolest storytelling. Shit is already crazy but everyone still isn't used to it.
>>
In a just world, people who read capeahit would be euthanized.

Fuck you, faggot

>Faggot
How utterly drole
>>
>>24767254
Based take but Britain gave the world Alan Moore and sadly he was the begining of the end of comicbooks. Frank Miller mogs most British comicbook writers anyhow, with the exception of John Wagner and Alan Grant.
>>
>>24767963
Fucking moron
>>
>>24767975
If bad artists ripping Moore off make him the beginning of the end then so is Miller. Those copycats that missed the point are responsible for themselves.
>>
>>24767983
A drole moron, if you will.
>>
>>24767254
Gr8 b8 marvel doesnt have a single intelligent comic in 60 years.
>>
>>24768006
Alan Moore ripping off better artists is what makes him the begining of the end. The man has never had an original idea in his life, he just uses a lot of words to make it sound as if he does.
>imagine if Big Brother was right-wing and taken down by an anarchist Batman
>imagine if I made a graphic novel out of the ideas already established in the novel the Superfolks by Robert Mayer
>what if the Avengers were made up of characters that already existed and were in the public domain?
Miller might be overrated but at least he had originality in his ideas and art style. Moore is a hack, through and through. Anything after his early work for 2000A.D. is complete trash, and he's carried by great artists like Dave Gibbons and David Lloyd.
And don't even get me started on his novels. Jerusalem tries so hard to read like Joyce.
>>
>>24768219
Moore has delusions of adequacy.
>>
>>24768315
I mean he’s a perfectly serviceable cape writer. Good even, I’d say. What he has is delusions of grandeur. Which is annoying but only because many of his fans fall for his pseudo intellectual nonsense.

Worse offenders exist, Tom King, Si Spurrier, Ram V, Hickman, Fraction, come to mind.
>>
>>24768315
>he’s a perfectly serviceable cape writer
I like my capeshit to be fun. Not edgy rape-filled pseudo-psycological explorations that impress teenagers. Only manchildren are impressed with this shit.
>>
>>24765291
If you want people to take your bait you should have use the Tintin comics or Blacksad
Capeshit (regardless of who made it it, mutts or bongs) is barely on the same level as YA slop
>>
>>24768016
It's DROLL
>>
>>24768399
Please recc some fun capeshit that's also horny. I used to be the "joker is so cool man" edgelord and want to get back into comics.
>>
>>24768219
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun
>>
>>24768729
Barbarella is fun and horny. Sydney Sweeney is also meant to be starring in an adaptation, which will be pure goonkino.

Mid 1980s-early 90s Spider-Man.
There's this chick, Joy Mercado, fattest ass in Marvel, and she's a main character on Web of Spider-Man. There's a really hot scene in like issue 21 or 23 of Web where Peter gets pissed at her, corners her in an airplane bathroom and they fight in there. Then a few months later he marries Mary Jane and then every scene transition ends with them fucking. Peter and MJ fuck like rabbits after they get married and Marvel was proud to let you know it.

If you wanna go in order start with ASM 252, Spectacular 90(?) And then start Web of Spider-Man as soon as he ditches the black suit. Or, honestly, the Hobgoblin arc that happens around then really sucks so you could skip ahead to like, ASM 289 and go straight to the wedding arc and beyond. But then you miss the sexual tension with Joy Mercado. God DAMN what an ass! Also McFarlane picks up artist credits at issue 298 and he redesigns MJ so she's got big 80s hair instead of the 60s flower power look.

Based, thanks.

>I think The Dark Knight almost saved the ending of Long Halloween, but by not making TDKR a true adaptation of Dark Victory, with Gotham City finally falling into the hands of the freaks, all that Long Halloween shit from TDK doesn't matter.
Finally, someone else who noticed this.

If anything it's drôle, i just dropped the caret so it's less offensive on the eye in your pig language in which both spellings are allowed, as is typical for barbarian pidgin tongues without rigid ortographies.
>>
>>24768364
I read only Watchmen and V for Vendetta and I got the same impression. Given the hype and comparisons to real literature I expected something much better. Watchmen had interesting structure and artwork, yet felt extremely shallow. V for Vendetta even more so. If Alan Moore is considered one of the best then he is truly correct in saying that the medium remains unexplored.
>>
>>24765291
Why don't you learn to draw and tell your stories through graphic novels rather than written novels? The odds of one person reading your entire written novel is close to 0 but at least someone might bother to read your graphic novel in its entirety.
>>
>>24768219
The idea of multiple superhuman heroes being assembled into a team goes back to Jason and the Argonauts
>>
>>24769867
>he is truly correct in saying that the medium remains unexplored.
This is another reason why I hate Moore. He bitches and moans about comicbooks whilst he's one of Western comics' biggest issue. Just look at European comics and claim they're not exploring the medium. Alan Moore singlehandedly stifled the development of western comicbooks with his post-modern slop.

>Greek mythology is capeshit
Kindly see yourself out.
