Hello Anons,

I posted here a while ago that I began my reading journey.

This is what i read this year:

So far I read 6 books this year:

Thus Spoke Zarathustra
Blood Meridian
Notes from the underground by Dostoyevsky
Stranger by Camus
Hunger by Hamsun
Correction by Bernhard

Now I want to set my eyes on a new piece of ilterature,

The Death of Ivan Ilyich
A Hero of Our Time

But I want to hear your suggestions, what would be the next good piece?

Death of Ivan ilyich is really good. I read it a few years ago and can’t remember the details of the story, but I was very impressed and even gave it to my father. He still hasn’t read it unfortunately.

But go for it, it will be your first Tolstoy.

A Hero Of Our Time is cool as well OP enjoy.

If you're enjoying these type of books you would probably like Journey To The End Of The Night by Céline as well. You would probably also like Bolaño.

What from Bolano you suggest?

Bernhard is the Europen Hubert Selby Jr. Repetitive misery porn. Always time for it.

follow the route of the superfluous man through russian literature, starting with goncharov.
then go the route of jewish authors in the first half of the century, you might like bruno schulz or mihail sebastian
avoid herman hesse and go straight to musil, mann and walser
kafka will not disappoint
eventually make your way to japanese literature and the likes of kawabata, mishima, tanizaki, abe and soseki
