How do I break through my autism and just start writing? I have wanted to write a thriller but I spend literally years of my life, decades, compiling lists of first, middle and last names to come up with the "perfect" names for my characters (never succeeding btw).
do it fgt
Realize that writing is a multi-stage process. You start off by shitting out a bunch of garbage, then you spend a lot of time re-writing it, editing and molding it into something that's actually good. Call your character "John Smith" and start at any point in the journey, you can ctrl+f replace his name later.
>>24771374Literally just start writing, you can always change and improve things as you go and add any ideas or perfect names as you come up with them. Autisticly write instead of autisticly thinking about writing.
You're aiming for a certain aesthetic, you need to find what aesthetic you're aiming for. You'll get motivation once you figure it out but then start worrying about the words. The words themselves don't matter, what matters is the aesthetic.

>>24771374Nothing is ever written as a first draft resembling the mental process carefully laid out in your brain, it always changes the deeper you go. >T. Novel Writer
>>24771374You sound like a perfectionist (which is bad). Just write. Perhaps something good will come eventually (probably not)
>>24771374Write while you imagine you are someone without autism writing a story.
