Reading through this one chapter per day, just like Gene Wolfe intended.
He intended for you to beat yourself on the head with a hammer after each chapter to induce memory loss.
>>24771757I already can't remember character names, events, dialogue, or anything else after turning a page anyway, so I'm good
>>24771744This book sucked
>>24771744Yeah, but you gotta reread that one chapter over and over again to pick up on the details.
>>24771744Latro is what Long Sun would have been if it was any good.
>>24771744>just like Gene Wolfe intendedUh, you're supposed to read the entire book from the beginning each day.
>>24773445You sucked, and continue to suck.
>>24775030No, you're supposed to get the highlights from your cute little slave girl each day and maybe read the most recent chapter or two, or sometimes the first chapter.
>>24775037The first chapter is literally entitled, "Read This Each Day."
>>24775056No, that's the title of the scroll. It's given as the title of the first chapter because the fictional Gene Wolfe translating the scroll used the first few words of each entry as the title. You can tell when Latro actually reads the first chapter because he asks about the doctor afterward. Presumably there's more than once that he asks someone about the doctor but doesn't record his asking, but a lot of the time he outright states that he only read the last couple of entries. And he certainly doesn't read the entire thing every day because there's several times that Io has him read specific sections. For example, at the end of Arete he reads about Faretra each day but never far enough to read about her death.
>>24775076>>24775056Those words aren't even part of that entry, Pindaros has Latro write them while they're on Hypereides's ship.
>tfw no Io gf
>ywn get part 3 set in persia or something
>>24776441Part 3 was Egypt
>>24773445better than botns
>>24776466worse than botss
>>24773445retard
Gene Wolfe is the Christopher Nolan of literature
>>24777119Whereas you're just a faggot.
>>24771744Could you provide anything *good* from that? How about *anything* **good** by Mr. Wolfe in general, from ***any*** of his books?I'm looking for any reason to put up with how terrible it feels to try to read his stuff. Everything he's written, it's so stilted and uncomfortable, like his mental image and intent for his readers was some kind of slow, painful sodomy, no matter what dialogue or narrative was involved.
Why the ending of each one of these books do a weird asspull?
