How am I supposed to interpret this?

>>24772795he a native tribesman with a very different concept of personal privacy and does not associate sleeping in the same bed with having sex with them. At the time sleeping in the same bed was less taboo, i.e. the host offers to let him sleep in bed with a stranger and the protagonist does not see anything strange about it and accepts. Queequeg was asleep and probably cold so his arm moved to the only other warm thing in the bed; they've only just met less that 24 hours ago so it would unlikely they immediately started fucking
>>24772831They were both naked!
>>24772839Not that guy, but I thought undressed just meant switching into your sleeping clothes or something.
>>24772839>two guys sleeping together>the one MUST have been putting his penis in the other guy's assholewhether they're naked or not is irrelevant
funny to see people malding over the homosexuality in Melville to date

Sharing the same bed with someone of the same sex is not an indication of one's sexuality. Abraham Lincoln frequently slept with his bedmate Harold Speed yet he still remained loyal to his wife, Mary Lincoln. The idea that physical intimacy is intrinsically linked to sexuality only causes more confusion and frustration regarding relationships and the body. Imposing sexuality on simple acts such as bedsharing or handholding only contributes to the loneliness epidemic and the crisis of meaning men are facing right now. From Jaeger:>Richard, Duke of Aquitaine, son of the King of England, remained with Philip, the King of France, who so honored him for so long that they ate every day at the same table and from the same dish, and at night their beds did not separate them. And the King of France loved him as his own soul; and they loved each other so much that the King of England was absolutely astonished at the vehement love between them and marveled at what it could mean.

>>24772795Its kinda funny how the majority of /lit/ has never actually read moby dick.
>>24772975>Imposing sexuality on simple acts such as bedsharing or handholding only contributes to the loneliness epidemic and the crisis of meaning men are facing right now.I don't think thats necessarily true. Gay guys are rarely ever lonely. Women just have an inherent need to always want "space" which is a problem that needs to be dealt with at the psychological level. Following that, disorders like borderline personality disorder are rarely scrutinized while people are always trying to neutralize autism, a primarily male-centric disorder. Not only that but a lot of the stigma around male virginity which women puts heaps of importance upon actually contributes a lot to it. There are stories of women who absolutely refuse to sleep with men (I'm using the sexual not platonic definition here) who have a zero level body count. One of the many reasons why there's so many men pouring their life savings into women who will never give them the time of day is because instant sexual access is not a guarantee and men generally have higher sex drives than women do. Academics refuse to engage with these points because of their unfortunate conclusions and their collective cowardice.
>>24772795Unironically does Queequeg debunk racism?
>>24772795Absolutely dire YA prose. Why do people still insist that reading Moby Dick is like connecting to the universal soul? Or however the fuck they put it.
