important public service announcement: today is read the first critique day
>>24774746I just finished it Friday. Now I'm starting The World as Will and Representation, specifically the appendix that Schopenhauer declares necessary propaedeutic before embarking on the main work. Schopenhauer's writing, at least so far, has been refreshing after Kant. Schopenhauer opened up in the prefaces taking shots and cracking jokes which was enjoyable to read.
So I got stunlocked. When he talks about right at the end of the first section, does he mean the legal/"god-given" privilege/entitlement or the agreement of one's judgement and fact? Or is it even the direction?
>>24775581What is the page in A/B format? i,e AXXX/BYYY
>>24775586B61/A44
>>24775601The parenthesis that say (moral constitution) seem to indicate he is speaking of right in the morally good or justified definition rather than directional especially since a direction can be considered sensible since we apprehend it a priori
>>24775650I see, this small passage really threw me for a loop, despite the parenthesis. But then is it right as in it is my right to embark on this journey of speculation or is it it's right to do so?
>>24775707You’re still engaging with the text and applying critical thought towards it rather than just skimming the pages
>>24775777Um thanks, I find the book stimulating and it's probably my next year goal to finally crack it. Is it advisable to read it alongside the other critiques?
>>24775785I’ve only read the Critique of Pure Reason so no idea but Schopenhauer wrote that Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics helps make Critique far more understandable so I’ll probably read that before I give Critique a second pass
>>24775807Aight, I'll check it out
