Islam gives more rights to women than either of those, such as economic independence, property ownership, inheritance, and the right to choose their spouse, express their views, and initiate divorce -- most of which are radical by traditional Jewish and Christian standards. Both of these latter peoples have tacked on modern female liberation to their original religions, particularly *because* those religions contain little by way of female rights. Ironically, this makes Islam the target of liberals and feminists, since the set of rights and enfranchisements it does contain for women obviously do not live up to their hypermodern standards. But Islam is downright feministic compared to most traditions in their original form, like, say, the Chinese, who consider women barely human and give them absolutely nothing in terms of inheritance, public life, agency, etc. (A view I am more partial to, frankly.)
