just marathoned the first 3 paragraphs of Meltdown by Nick Land, wtf? is this really philosophy?>http://www.ccru.net/swarm1/1_melt.htm
>>24777693There was one about a spaceship where some alien wound up killing one of the crew. It was a novel story but the only remotely philosophical part was some speculation about the usual how do we really know if Descartes was right or wrong type of affair. This dude definitely missed his calling as a sci-fi writer from a different decade. I can only imagine this was his impetus behind some of the wierd claims about time travel and some of his other odd attempts at thought experiments. >whatever the story was called it was a decent read.
>>24777693Nick land is the worst philosopher alive. Maybe Curtis Yarvin is worse, but they both suck.
>>24777734>This dude definitely missed his calling as a sci-fi writer from a different decade.isn't he just ripping off William Gibson and 80s scifi movies?
>>24777693>I took acid and read a bunch of Crowley then decided to take occultism seriously. >wait, tech bros are actually listening to me? Let’s roll with itAll tech bros from coders, moto founders, to tech bloggers are just wannabe artists. Nick land just wishes he was mariana abramovic>>24777741Silicon techs bros have been desperate to recreate Gibson and Stephenson. Surprise they are all occultists too. It’s all so boring. At least year in is sucking up and giving their ego a framework, something actual usable.
>The more general the terms, the less can be thought in them.>To use many words for the purpose of conveying few ideas is everywhere the infallible sign of mediocrity; whereas that of an eminent mind is the inclusion of many ideas into few words.>Whoever writes carelessly thereby confesses at the very outset that he himself does not attach any great value to his own ideas.t. Schopenhaueralso you can spot pseudo-philosophers by the manner in which they want to appear as knowers, when the best minds always remained seekers and would never write "listen here noob, the story goes like this">but it's a maximalist style mimicking postmodern overstimulation, cyberpunk bruh.OK, then its just prose without attempt to resolve a philosophic perplexity. What having no thaumazein does to a mf.

At least year in is sucking up and giving their ego a framework, something actual usable.Land is not a computer expert, he is just a boomer that likes cool sounding tech stuff
Ok, now name four (fünf) orginal thoughts Land contributed to modern philosophy
lure of the void is good
>>24777741I'm not familiar with Gibson so I'm not sure. He does seem to have some influences from PKD, pulp sci-fi wise I would say maybe 1950's era once all the optimists left and it was mostly high paranoia type stuff, some late 1940's when dystopia became normative but they still addresses some ethical concerns. 1950's is a compliment though, that decade produced some great schizo sci-fi material. Maybe just a touch of Octavia Butler, minus all the survivalist themed stuff that franchises still rip off.
>>24777693>is this really philosophy?No
