What spawns your desire to read? Also, where do you read? Do you have a comfy spot at home? Do you read in your bed?
>>24782862I read because real life is a slog and it’s escapism. Also, when reading something truly good I feel like I’m learning something about life, a new perspective, a new way of thinking about things. I try not to do anything in bed other than sleep or else it loses its designated sleep factor and sleep comes less easily. I have a comfy chair and a side table where I read (pic of table).
>>24782862>What spawns your desire to read?boredom and loneliness mostly
>>24782862My complete and utter boredom with any other type of media, especially algorithm based ones where a faceless tech company tries to tell me what I want to consume
>>24782862I read for either entertainment or understanding. If I’m bored, I will pick up fiction to entertain myself. If I want to learn about a topic or increase knowledge of the self, I will pick up some philosophy or non-fiction. Literary fiction is nice because it’s a little bit of both.
>>24782862well sometimes i gotta take a massive shit so i read during that and sometimes when i go to take a massive shit someone else is already in the bathroom so i have to go to the downstairs bathroom but after i finish my massive shit i'll be worn out and not feel like going back up the stairs so i'll lie down on the couch and read there until i've recovered
>>24782862I was bored of vidya and wanted a new hobby so I started reading and never looked back. I read for entertainment and to expand my perspective. I started reading in bed, but my neck and back began hurting after a while, so now I read at my desk or at the living room table. A couple of pages of something light before sleep are allowed, but other than that I always try to read sitting on a chair.
