Did Nolan not understand what blue-eyed virgin means?
>>
>>24782958
Obviously he should have cast you.
>>
>>24782958
He wants another Oscar. If he made an historically accurate Odyssey it would be disqualified due to not fulfilling DEI standards ratified by the Academy.
>>
>>24782998
>historically accurate
>Odyssey
Nolan better watch out. If the Gods of Olympus are not cast with people that look like the real Gods, some sweatlord with no friends is going to be real upset.
>>
>>24783005
>it not real therefore it not matter
>in /lit/ out of all places
>>
>>24783016
It takes a certain degree of Redditor brain-poisoning to insist on "historical accuracy" for a work that is definitionally not Historic.
It's fiction you spastic retard, get a fucking grip.
>>
>>24783019
yeah, and why not put my little pony names as the horses in iliad because it's not real. oh wait
>>
>Yeah well uh what if a completely different thing happened?
Summer's over, kid. Go to class. You only get so many chances to pass ninth-grade math.
>>
>>24783019
Sheeeeit you be speakin facts my woke negro, we need more brown people in adaptations of ancient Greek literature, because racism and reparations and sheeeeeeeeit.
>>
>>24783019
I think thats true to an extent, but there is also cultural authenticity. The Odyssey isnt set in some completely fantasy and undefined world, but a quasi-historical quasi-mythic one that has some structure to it.
I think its also kind of redditor brain to go the exact opposite direction and say "its all, like, subjective, man, and Im all here for it!". its about degree of license.

Not that I think its an egregious decision or something, and it could work, but I can see why someone might like a more authentic rendition as well.
>>
>mfw excessive swapping of White actors for Black actors contributed to one of the biggest political shifts in American history
Can’t make this stuff up
>>
>>24783019
Heinrich Schliemann literally found the ruins of Troy using Homer as reference thoughever
>>
>>24783080
>a Mediterranean nation was historically White because...... IT JUST WAS!!
Greeks were (and are) light-brown Arabs, you stupid cunt.
This is why nobody treats you vapid degenerates as Human: you can't even get your own terminally-dysgenic "arguments" correct.
>>
>>24783081
>I can see why someone might like a more authentic rendition as well.
You're fucking up by treating these "people" as equals worthy of being heard.
>>
>>24783124
>Greeks were (and are) light-brown Arabs
Kek, yeah, okay
>>
When did reddit take over /lit/? Serious question. I've been in some threads and have seen such moronic takes that basically boil down to:
>media literacy
>it's just fiction
>who cares if they don't look 100% like the source material
>>
>>24783124
I don't think any real genetic evidence proves that. Even the Levant would have been much whiter before the Arab expansion.
>>
>>24783163
AFAIK it's not even done by genuine leftists, insofar as leftists would never really care to be on an elitist board like this. It's mostly just depressed basedjakparty type retards who care more about 'pissing off da chuds' for fun.
>>
>>24783005
>some sweatlord with no friends is going to be real upset.
and that's where you are wrong I am furious
>>
>>24783163
If you go into these threads guessing that posts like that are trolling, you'll be pretty close to the mark most of the time
>>
>>24783124
I dont think a subsaharan is a natural fit for the greek Goddess of wisdom and tactics do you? Only reason I could see for the selection is DEI.

why are you talking about Arabs? That would be a better selection I'd agree.

I legitimately believe Hollywood isn't hated and insulted enough. They get ragged on by right-wing commentators but not nearly enough for my taste. Every studio executive, every producer, every director, every cinematographer, every screenwriter, and especially every actor needs to be continually reminded that their moral worth is that of a rat or a cockroach. We need to go back to shaming the performing arts as harshly as possible, as was considered right and just in Roman times.
>>
>>24783019
It takes a certain degree of cuck to defend an ugly vantablack nigger being cast as a woman that nations would go to war over. If they wanted to be moderately woke they could have cast some light-eyed med girl with levantine or Arab admixture. Something like this is beyond the pale.
>>
>>24783019
>haha it’s only fiction
So white Black Panther is ok?
>NOOO YOU RACIST HIS RACE IS ESSENTIAL TO HIS CHARACTER
Ok so a white african god is ok?
>NOOO YOU COLONIZER THEIR CULTURE IS SACRED

You can run down this script every which way and it’s only ever going to come down to recasting whites/Euros is ok and the inverse isn’t. Same reason “diversity” awards are given to corps hiring 90% women and the NBA for being 70% black. “Representation matters” actually means “vastly disproportionate representation” once you hit the actual demographic targets, under those targets their argument is it’s about reflecting demographics. Feminism is about “equality” until it’s achieved then it’s about fuck men.
It’s all just one battle really and they want you dead. All the fluff words and spinning the wheel of moral absolutes is an obfuscation and stalling process.

>maintain this level of middle-school summerfaggotry, in October
This site's gone to shit. Everyone here is either underage with no friends, or roleplaying as a "Christian" because they have nothing to live for but their next rock of meth.
>>
>>24783019
Oh like literally anything “trans” “gender”
Have you ever read a book bro?

This has always been a leftist board sweatie. Conservatards can't read.
>>
>>24782958
It wasn't his choice to cast her

Learn to stay on your containment board, for fuck's sake.

Buzzword and 'heh, why do you care' are not valid points.

>blue-eyed
surprised it took until >>24783302 for someone to call out OP
anyways, >>>/tv/
>>
>>24783454
Obviously a troll but I'm taking a shit atm so I'll answer anyway.

A leftist board wouldn't care neatly as much about the Western Canon as this board obviously does. There's a reason almost every university in the West has scrapped their "Great Books" courses in favor of courses dedicated to 'historically underrepresented groups,' postcolonialism studies, and so on. A leftist board would have more threads on Octavia Butler or Sam Delaney or I don't know...Fred Moten, than threads about Pynchon, Faulkner, and Melville.
>>
>>24783465 (You)
Then pissing your pants about them isn't valid either, retard.
>>>/r9k/
>>
>>24783489
>almost every university [some shit an alcoholic on Twitter told me]
You won't go to university, wagie. You have no reason to care what happens there, and especially no reason to make some shit up out of thin air.
>>
>>24783489
Not every leftist is your stereotypical American blur haired tumblrite. This board used to worship Zizek and read Foucault too.
>>
>>24783452
Dude fiction is just as fictional as “trans” “gender”.
>>
>>24783457
Are we even sure it’s an actual human being and not AI generated? That’s actually a thing nowadays.

That‘s possibly even more strongly correlated with groups we would consider as "White."
>>
>>24783544
Who cares. None of the actors are even Greek.
>>
>>24783560
Right why bother being historically accurate at all i mean let’s make a film about the American civil war and just throw some fucking robots in it with laser beam swords
>>
>>24783443
>This site's gone to shit
You retarded knuckledraggers have been saying this shit for like 10 years. Just leave and go to reddit or something
>>
>>24783502
Go and rewind the clock or something. You also had evolatards on here too.
>>
>>24783019
You would fucking cry if Tom Hanks was cast as Malcolm X.
>>
Is this a reference to Black Athena?
Kind of disappointed

>defending Hollywood

The only appropriate /lit/ attitude towards the current state of film and television is that Los Angeles deserves another fire to finish it off.
>>
>>24782958
All white stories must be diverse. All non white stories must be racially accurate.
>>
>>24784861
The greeks weren't exactly white. They saw actual whites (Germanic Euros) as brainless savages. There's not a single Greek actor, even if the blacks weren't there, it would still be inaccurate.
