Why do we never mention the library and always talk about pirating? It's like a legal form of pirating and you can watch cool movies too with Kanopy. It it a psyop to destroy trust in communities and make posters scared to leave the house?
>>24784124Because that's an ugly ass building and I don't want to read any of those magazines. Silly thread.
>>24784135>not reading magazines and books for freepleb teebh desu
>>24784124Libraries were the white man's last refuge, and then the homeless found out about them.
>>24784124Why go to the library when I can just dl the book/movie at home?
>>24784157you look cooler going outside and getting a book than sitting in a cave and reading off a computer
Libraries do not have the books that I read, it's as simple as thatWhen I was in University, the University Library had plenty of books that I wanted to read and so I borrowed them
>>24784142I don't watch youtube videos from the Economist or Time either
>>24784165Do you know what's cooler? Owning the book yourself and going to the park or cafe with it.
>>24784191that's true but for you don't necessarily want to buy but borrow just headin' to the library is cool
>>24784124I made eye contact with a woman at the library today
>>24784220we're gonna make it bros
>>24784151They still could be. If enough good respectable people started going there, there would be enough to complain and have things changed.
>>24784173You can request books, even pre-publication? Anyway, the homeless is why not. That and small children.
>>24784232you could just get the book and leave the library though. don't have to hang around
>>24784229the liberal white chick librarian would call the on-duty police offer that has to be there to prevent stabbings and administer narcan, and have you arrested for a hate crime if you so much think of suggesting such a thing, you insensitive bigot. something about intersectionality and social services.
>>24784220Before or after she called the police?
>>24784227And I told the librarian that the check-out receipt machine was nearly out. He said thank you.
>>24784124IāI don't know
>>24784244Jokes aside, I imagine the librarians would love nothing more than to have the library turn into a dignified space of reading and study.
>>24784245Well, I did walk behind her up the stairs, so I'm waiting for the police to arrest me for rape or attempted murder or something.
>>24784237and cut down the librarian romance window?
>>24784262I can't believe you were stalking a pre-menopausal woman you pedo freak she was only 35
>>24784298I tried to stay a flight back, but she was walking too slow. The judge will believe me, right???
>>24784124I love the library :D
>>24784124I coom in every book I borrow from the library
>>24784368hell yeah
>>24784368Me too!
I rarely check books out of the library but I like to go there to read. I live in a major city so I can go to one of those marble filled wonders and feel academic despite being a drop out.
>>24784430Very jealous. And good for you. I would love a return of true library/lit culture.
>>24784124i'd feel like a poser if i went to the library desu. i get paranoid about mentioning books i've read to other people because i don't want to give them the impression that i'm some know it all douchebag.
Because my local library is only good for three things: >sitting on the waiting list for the latest romantasy novel>reading books on gender queer critical race intersectionality word soup>reading zines written by local rich white kids larping as anarcho-communist revolutionariesWhy would I subject myself to that when the largest library in the history of mankind is a couple clicks away?
>>24784430I miss college for this aspect. The college I went to, as shitty as it was, had a really nice three-story tall library with giant windows. At night I'd go over after dinner and sit at one of the chairs by a window on the third floor where no one went and read for a little bit. But then again I also got held at knife-point walking down the street there, so tradeoffs I guess.I like being an adult with my own place and a family, but I miss the lack of responsibility and amount of freetime I had back then.
>>24784199>just headin' to the library is coolYeah that's true. I very rarely check anything out though, especially from my local branch which is quite small. The last time I borrowed anything from the library it was a couple of books of Monet and van Gogh prints, which must have been in 2020 abouts. I do like going there to read, but I can't vape in there so usually I don't bother lol. It is a great place to study, doe.
I live in 3rd world. No library culture here
>>24784124My library has mentally ill people around it and in it. Also browns. I do like kanopy and the audio book thing.
>>24784124i saw a cute college girl in the library once. i was 28/29 at the time.
