Should I watch the film adapted from the masterpiece of 2025 Nobel winner, or dive into the book first? I guess no one here will be able to read the book in Hungarian, and I'm lingering between the English and Russian translation (fyi neither of them is my mother tongue).

The film is literally 7 hours long. Reading the book is actually faster
>>
I only watched the film, in one sitting (on the day of the Capitol takeover lmao, I completely ignored the news that day). It is a very good film, but it could have been shortened to 5 hours and a half - six hours...

It could be shortened to 90 minutes easily.

probably just watch the movie, otherwise it will be hard to imagine the context (unless you lived on a plains filled with communist infrastructure in the late 20th century)

It doesn't matter. They're brilliant for different reasons. Obviously only watch the film if you're interested and used to slow cinema. You won't get anything out of it otherwise.

If you can't imagine that maybe you are too retarded to read, sorry.

>this is advice on the literature board

the english translation is very good literature, szirtes is a poet and a friend of his and spent a long time getting it as good as it is.

I've watched the film twice, both times in one sitting. It's really good. It's divided in chapters and the point of view characters keep changing, so it's closer to binging a mini series than watching a long movie. It goes flying. I have the book, but haven't read it yet. I've read The Melancholy of Resistance though and it's brilliant, and so is the movie.

Werckmeister Harmonies is a far superior film.
