God exists. That is self-evident. The real question is his nature. In many respects he has to be at the least uncaring and at worst evil. However, the existence of love, forgiveness and beauty in the world means that there is goodness in him also. Are there any books/religious traditions that explore God's moral ambiguity?

I think Buddhism is closer to the truth but it has failed to really pull me in. I do believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the key to all of this somehow but I don't know how exactly. I don't buy into the Christian narrative but the figure of Christ stands out like nothing else in the history of the world. What that means I don't know and we may never know but I believe the truth lies somewhere in that story
