I heard they are preparing a newer volume set to contain the NRSV Updated Edition "ue".
>>24787828I assume it will take ages. Most groups that created the NRSVUE haven't even formally adopted it yet due to red tape. Hopefully the binding is as nice. Lays flat very well. Nice curve to the opening. Needs three ribbons though. Or perhaps a 3 volume set?
>>24787828i just bought this one, i don't want them to make a new one
>>24787828>>24787849New Oxford Annotated Bible 6th Edition Publication DateOxford has been working to update theirNew Oxford Annotated Bible(NOAB) to make use of the NRSVue. They have now announced an expected publication date for the upcoming 6th edition: May 26th, 2026. >>24787929I'll just read it before the new one comes out, I paid $14 for it.
>>24787929Thanks for the quality post in reply to my low effort complaining bump.
>>24787876It's cheap.
I'm glad they are keeping the Apocrypha available as a separate volume.
Getting them together seems like too much at once.
>>24788040I wonder how this will make it sit on a desk. I think the apocrypha made it sit much better. The extra weight.
I'm so glad they have these all in the same place.
>>24788049They need to seriously work on the Qurans. Need one with Sharia law points that show major schools.
>>24788046But the Bible is the full Word of God, and the Apocrypha you have to go more book by book, even section by section within some books.
>>24788060I rarely use the Apocrypha section in a NOAB so its value is in how it makes the book sit.
>>24787849I have the three volumes you need:>>24788036>>24788040>>247880571 for the Bible itself2 for the Apocrypha as its own thing3 for the Book of Mormon, which is perhaps the most lowly regarded text on the planet Earth, and yet contains great wisdom in its cavernous depths, oft unpenetrated by the mind of man.
>>24788071I would be interested in this set if the book of mormon had ecumenical content with the Missouri Mormons.
>>24788107NRSV-ue is from NCC and incorporates changes that are similar to the Joseph Smith Bible (ncc includes the Community of Christ with many mainline churches)
>>24788116Ok but I am interested in Mormon texts that include footnotes from the major sects of mormonism. Missouri mormons are a must.
>>24788119They wouldn't have much different to say than anybody about the Book of Mormon itself; I do agree the Doctrine and Covenants would be very interesting to see done up like that, even cross-denominationally, at least to include Joseph Smith III.
>>24788128Exactly why it needs to happen. Ecumenicalism can only help a religion.
>>24787849They have 3 volumes of these:>>24788134Kind of like how the NRSV-UE does things more similar to how the Jewish Publication Society does the Bible, it works.
>>24788049Jelly that Muslims have the cool looking books and Christians have scholastic-tier cheap plastic like >>24788043
>>24788144I like the blue and the tan ones though
>>24788144You can still read it, just take it with the salt that if it says something against the Bible, it is a bad translation, as no revelation can contradict that which is true. And Jesus is affirmed the Son of God of the will of Spirit, just not of flesh, and the Quran does say he is conceived of the Holy Ghost. Compare most Muslim translations to bad Bible renditions.
>>24788142Yeah. Exactly. I am not Mormon but I will study it if produced. Much like how if the Jews actually didn't have a monstrous book in the form of the Talmud they would translate and share it (they don't, they keep most of it in Hebrew because it is fucking evil if you read it).
>>24788163Think of the Book of Mormon as an enigmatic statement of God made exactly to be as it is. A sort of visionary apocalypse similar to book 27 of the New Testament, only it wavers and falters in the mind's eye, yet it truly shines in trying to dig what wisdom God might truly have been saying to Joseph by it.
>>24788166I inherently respect the book of Mormon as a higher form of religion, being universal, so I al open to it, but I need it annotated by an ecumenical group.
>>24788179There are so many divergent viewpoints on Mormonism and the book itself that it would be hard to get them all together to produce something satisfying. Look at the geography theories for example.
>>24788179lol this is your brain on catholicism, literally cannot even function
>>24788144Thoughts on?
>>24788183It's worth a try.>>24788184I am protestant. If I was Catholic I would be seething.
>NRSVUEIsn't that the one that changed Arsenoikotai in order to be more politically correct? Why would anyone trust a translation that changed something so clear? Paul went out of the way to create a term to make things more explicit.
>>24788186They are revising the NABRE
>more inclusive translationno thanks lol
>>24788619Interesting detail, however Leviticus and Deuteronomy are clear enough.
