Now that video games are being turned into movies, has there ever been a good video novel?
>>24788085Yes
>>24788085The early republic commando books were good. They started out as books about a team of clones thrown together, dealing with the loss of their brothers, learning to find new brotherhood, and launching high risk spec ops/intelligence missions against the separatists. They always had a degree of mando wank and Jedi hate but it increased with every book until it becomes unreadable but the first 2 books are good.
>>24788085This one sucks but the first halo book was solid. Just buy/read a printing from before 2010.
Halo books are fun but MCs story just feels like an Ender's Game retread
The video games that get book adaptations don't even tend to be the video games that have the most book-like story element to them. It's the action slop that's just imitating action movies. So you get a book adaptation of a video game that's imitating a movie. If you think this process would yield something weird enough to be interesting, you'd be wrong. It's all shit.
