>is easily the best horror story of all time
>>24788132It's good but completely mogged by at least a dozen other Lovecraft stories.
>>24788141>completely moggedSort of like, namefags?
>>24788143Incoherent post.
>>24788141This. Upboat. Last I checked I had loosely ranked Lovecract list somewhere and this was barely in the top half. The man has at least two dozen great stories. I respect that you really like this one and I think it's a testament to his greatness that we can have such varying opinions.
>>24788141>>24788304And which you would put on top. For me only the case of c.d.w. comes close. There are better plot twist reveals, but I don't think anything comes close to the build up of tension.
>>24788657You know what? I got my Lovecraft titles all mixed up. Whisperer in Darkness is top 5 for sure.
>>24788132It reads more like a comedy to me.The protagonist is retarded and completely oblivious to dozens of red flags. The antagonists are just as dumb and completely botch their attempt to catch the protagonist. Also, the antagonists don't seem to be really evil in this story. They just want to mine for minerals and invite earthlings to brainjar space journeys.
>>24788723>botch their attempt to capture the protagonist their goal is to collect all physical evidence of their existence which they succeed in doing >don't seem to be really evil them revealing their planet to human scientists despite trying really hard to cover their true nature from being exposed hints that they have sinister intention for mankind behind their double speak of promises
