It's obvious why these edgy pro-annihilation and antinatalist philosophies never actually catch on and just remain niche online LARPs. At the end of the day the average person is just a bundle of instincts hardwired with an insane will to live and an animalistic sex drive that makes the idea of virginity as the highest virtue a non-starter. But more importantly the sales pitch for pure nothingness is just terrible. You need to give the masses some kind of cope, a reward/punishment system to keep them in line. Buddha was smart enough to know this, he didn't tell normies the esoteric truth that the goal is to just *poof* gone, because they would've laughed and stoned him. Instead he sold them the brilliant exoteric lie of reincarnation: be good and you'll come back a prince, be bad and you're a maggot. It's the same reason Christianity works, the whole system is propped up by the ultimate carrot and stick of eternal bliss in Heaven versus the terror of Hell. Without those comforting illusions any philosophy that just tells people "existence is suffering and the only way out is to stop existing" is dead on arrival. It's a bitter pill only a few suffering or detached individuals can swallow while the rest of the world will always choose the promise of a better life, even if it's a lie, over the cold reality of oblivion.
edgy philosophies don't want to catch on they would cease being edgy
>>24795933Meanwhile, the mass of plebs are free of these neurotic hangups, and continue breeding like flies while the intellectual bourgeoisie dies out.Humans are like guppies: they breed downwards.
nihilistic despair, like all forms of despair, is just you feeding your appetite for "blackpill" dopamine. no different from histrionic self-flagellation, you wouldn't do it if you weren't getting something out of it.
Reminder that anti-natalists are likely to be mentally ill and have a personality disorder
>>24796555This doesn't mean that anti-natalist arguments can be dismissed solely due to this fact (inb4 crying about ad hom); it does however add context to why autists make these threads and are completely unable to understand why they are wrong. It also has direct implications regarding Benatar's quality of life argument (i.e. anti-natalists are stuck in a rigid ideological system as a cope for to sustain their defective worldview).Say you're designing a logo and you want to market test for the most appealing shade of red. Would you want most of those in your sample population to suffer from protanopia?
>>24796555Anti-natalists are at a complete poverty when it comes to weighing quality of life. Their defective nature simply precludes them from accepting any rationalization outside of their own self-indoctrination. They don't necessarily mean to be disingenuous because such is simply written into their nature. Also note that the more you talk to them the more you'll realize a sick fascination with harm, violence, and death. These people don't want to reduce harm, they want to justify their resentment and spread their misery.
>the average person is just a bundle of instincts hardwired...animalisticAnti-natalist (AN) positioning himself above others and reducing people to unthinking objects and dehumanizing them.>You need to give the masses some kind of copeAgain, the AN positions himself above others while telling on himself regarding his tendency toward manipulation.>a reward/punishment system to keep them in lineThis exemplifies the hindered moral development of ANs (i.e. Kohlberg Stage 1: punishment/self-interest).>Buddha was smart enough to know thisThe AN reduces a complex religious philosophy and, again, projects his own tendency toward manipulation.>didn't tell normies the esoteric truthOnce again the AN positions himself above others and displays the fact his worldview is based on manipulating others.>Christianity...the whole system is propped up by the ultimate carrot and stickAgain, the AN betrays his own lack of moral development and demonstrates his worldview is rooted in projecting his own manipulation. It should also noted how simplistic and reductive "his" reads have been so far (he is delusional in regard to this and thinks his pronouncements are deeply meaningful).>Without those comforting illusions any philosophy that just tells people "existence is suffering and the only way out is to stop existing" is dead on arrivalThe AN is ideologically possessed and doesn't realize he's begging the question of his preformed conclusions. Also note that he handwaves any philosophy or worldview contrary to his own as based on "illusion". >It's a bitter pill only a few suffering or detached individuals can swallow while the rest of the world...Once again the AN anoints himself above others. The delusion here is that his ideology is indicative of his intellectual superiority and inner strength compared to those who think differently and/or directly criticize him.If you listen to ANs the nature of their ideological possession and mental illness/personality disorder becomes quite clear. They've internalized a reductive worldview, obviously rooted in their perverse fascination with violence/suffering and their antisocial tendencies (e.g. manipulation), in order to imagine themselves as being above all others. Their delusions lead them to make grand pronouncements on the human condition but anyone outside of their ideology notices just how laughably simplistic their worldview is compared to the complexities of human experience. One also notices the pretense of their moral prescription when it is seen in relation to their own low level of moral development--all of this contained within textual evidence they themselves unintentionally present. In short: ANs are ideologically possessed by a simplistic worldview, project their own mental deficiencies into the world, demonstrate their poverty of understanding via reductive summaries of complex human phenomena, and betray their low level of moral development.
