How about you? My goal was 15 books.
>>
I set it at 10 books in August and I've completed 5 since then

10 or 15 books is obviously very doable but won’t this just make you read shorter works in order to meet the goal if you realize you’re ”behind schedule” instead of reading stuff that you’d actually like to read/take your time with the books you’re currently reading? Seems stupid to me.
>>
>>24816375
I just read what I want and if I fail, I fail. I tend to prefer longer books too. So 10 or 15 books a year for me can be like 30 or more for someone else.
For me this challenge just pushes me to just read in general. I'm behind schedule? Then better read more of that 1000 pages book instead of browsing 4chan

No. I have a spinny wheel of fortune that decides my fate.
>>
>>24816344
My goal was 50. I've got like 2 more. Usually I read closer to 100.
Aren't you always posting? Maybe post less and read more.
>>
28 books, not great. I want to destroy my phone with a hammer.
>>
>>24816344
My goal is 26 books, I'm only at 13.
It's ogre unless I cherrypick tiny books from my list or take a vacation and read for a week or two.
>>
>>24816344
Congrats, anon! I'm one book away myself

I read like 80 books this year, but most of them are short story collections or novellas that I read before bedtime. I don't set goals though, that's silly.
>>
I'm still reading. Hoping to finish 3 or 4 books before 2026. Goal was 15 books. I probably read 10-12 but remember fuck all.
>>
>>24816344
I'm 14/20 and i have anna karenina to finish

I only read 9 books last year hence why my goal was so low. But I've read a lot this year, including 2666 which is a big 900 page bastard
>>
>>24818217
congrats. 2666 is massive achievement
>>
>>24818220
Thanks bro. It was well worth it. Hands down one of the top 5 books I've ever read. Loved it
>>
Not to hate, but maybe you guys should set more ambitious goals? I don't think I read very much, but I'll get through 15 books by end of March easily unless I'm reading Infinite Jest.

You have to consider the fact that a vast number of people here are zoomers whose brains have been raped into retardation their entire lives, and who have then picked up the habit of reading far too late to be able to have enough freetime to dedicate to it.
It takes me twice as long to read a book as the audiobook version and I'm in a unrelated and intensive field in university for example.
>>
>>24818690
I can get why a college student in an intense college program would have less free time than some one else, but I don't get why zoomers have less free time than anyone else?
>>
>>24818861
Never said they had less free time than anyone else at their age, but they have less free time than they did growing up. Most people don't have a lot of free time once they're done with school. I'm not saying zoomers can't read; I'm saying that the act of reading is much more complicated and mentally exhausting to them, and thus takes more time than for people who grew up reading books. So they could read just as much as anybody else, but they wouldn't be able to complete as many books. There's also the fact that you're way less inclined to read something that requires effort after a long day (and most books, or classics, require constant effort for a mushy brain)
>>
>>24818533
Counterpoint, there's no point in 'ambition' for reading volume. I don't even think that there's more than 15 truly great books that'll speak to (You), so why rush it? It's better to read a single book but take your time with it and truly appreciate it, rather than just bumping numbers in a spreadsheet that'll have no influence over your life.
>>
>>24819377
Cope. You can read widely while also selectively reading deeply.
>>
>>24816344
If ever in life you are achieving a challenge by such an absurd margin you’re either too vain or underestimating yourself.
>>
Me? I finished my goal of 25 books back in July. :)

34/40 so far.
I'm slowing down to just 15 next year because it's the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, bible, Quran, rig veda, Bhagavad Gita, and some other hefty poetry and epics.

>Work full time, married, have kids.
I'm 43 and don't know what that even feels like.
>>
>>24820104
I just turned 44, single, no kids, but full time, often demanding job and have read something like 40 books so far just reading consistently for around an hour a day, often during my lunch break or before bed. I read more on the weekend usually.
What is going on with zoomers that they need to set goals to hit 10-15? Mind blowing thread.
>>
I believe how that bitch wrote an article about how literary we all are and this is the best. Nigga I'm on 70, actually try for fuck sake it's not like you have a harem of pussy distracting you. Poser fucking pricks
