Profoundly retarded. The whole point of the myth of Sisyphus is that you must not imagine him happy. The Greeks made up that myth specifically so you would think "man Sisyphus must be really unhappy right now, I'd better not do what he did." When Camus went to hell he went up to Sisyphus and said WOW YOU MUST BE SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW and Sisyphus beat him over the head with the rock for being a retarded faggot.
>>
>>24824329
schoppy's trvke nvke can only be ignored and purposefully misinterpreted as much as humanly possible
the average philosopher would go insane otherwise
>>
>>24827669
He's not saying that Sisyphus's punishment is a good thing, actually. He's saying that finding happiness in pointless suffering is a necessity if you want to live, because life in general is no different from pushing a big rock up a hill.

The alternative is to kill yourself.
>>
>>24827677
Idealistic non-sense for an anarchist retard. Fuck him and fuck you, degenerate. Kill all anarchists.
>>
>>24827677
And if he was intellectually honest he would have just killed himself instead of coming up with that nonsensical cope. Human emotions are too inconstant and involuntary for anyone to realistically "just be happy bro." Once you come to the conclusion that life is more suffering than pleasure, and that there's no real punishment for dipping out early, then there's nothing for it but to maximize your pleasure to pain ratio by killing yourself as soon as possible. Copes like Camus' are just a way to rationalize your animal survival instinct to your pessimist philosophy.
>>
>>24827677
>Don't try to solve the root cause of your suffering, just let it happen
What a dumbass.
>>
>>24827703
You know full well that killing yourself is not something you can 'just' do. You need to be highly apathetic and egotistic if you still check out knowing how much suffering you'd inflict to the ones that rely on you, which is ironic since empathy and compassion are prerequisites to be pessimistic in the first place.
>>
>>24827677
One must imagine Tantalus happy.

sissyphus had it coming
>>
>>24827669
>The whole point of the myth of Sisyphus is that you must not imagine him happy
I don't think Camus actually believes the myth lmao. He's just using Sisyphus as a symbol for the constant struggle of finding meaning in a meaningless world. This is difficult because our cognition defaults to a teleologically based worldview
>>
>>24827746
>You know full well that killing yourself is not something you can 'just' do.
True. Like I said, you're always going to be coping and trying to justify your animal survival instinct. That's all well and good so long as that instinct is functioning properly. But when that instinct malfunctions, when depression comes as it inevitably does to every mind at some point, you have no substantial protection against the simple mathematical logic of suicide. Ultimately, if life is more bad than good, then the decision to go on living is nothing more than an act of self-harm, and the people in your life have no right to demand that of you. Let your body's irrational survival instinct falter for even a moment, and you'll find the reason why atheists have the highest suicide rate of any religious group.
>>
>>24827671
indeed
>>
>>24824061
I have never understood the importance of Sartre. It always seemed to me that he reinterpreted Nietzschean affirmation of life/eternal recurrence and Camusian rebellion against absurdity and didn't really add much to the equation. I'm probably wrong, though.
