do you buy nice books? or only shitters/easy to read paperbacks?
>>
easy to read paperbacks.
>>
Nice book with old illustrations for classics (sometimes have to buy shit from a few centuries years ago when no new pretty edition is avalaible), and paper toilet material for new releases.
>>
Hardcovers are good only if they are actual hardcovers, i.e. signature-bound.
If they are a paperback with a hardcover slapped on top it is the worst of both.

those style of books are ugly

I buy books to read them, not to show through aesthetics how smart I am

I mainly collect La Pléiades.
Honestly in general I prefer reading paperbacks because I find most hardbacks, especially the more premium ones, are just too big.
I bought a Folio Society book years ago planning to start collecting them but I was pretty disappointed when it arrived. It looked nice and seemed well made but it was just too big and I felt like I could only read it at my desk.
I love my Arden Shakespeares but for some reason they abandoned the sewn bindings and they all seem to be glued now which has made me very sad.
