What does /lit/ think of this one? I thought it was basically impeccable and deeply deeply frustrating. anyone know any books similar?

My favorite Ishiguro. The only book I've read with similar "dream logic" is Ice by Anna Kavan.

For me it is his best novel. I love Kafka and this was pretty much a Kafka novel with an Ishiguro narrator; read those if you haven't already. I'm still surprised by the polarizing opinions over this book considering most critics love Kafka. In the critics eyes I think Ishiguro suffered from the mainstream success of his previous novel (the movie sucked BTW).
