by the way, i love him. the elephant man, the straight story, blue velvet, etc. etc. great filmmaker, but an insane person irl. like real life no foolin' cuckoo for cocoa puffs. this motherfucker talking about how transcendental meditation made him such a calm and meditative person in one interview, then he's got a cigarette hanging off his lip while he's wildly yelling obscenities at one of his orbiter goobers to bring him a different hammer as he's driving nails into some weird ugly ass contemporary art piece he's putting together in his studio. couldn't play guitar worth a shit either, but put out a handful of albums of him literally just slapping the strings randonmly while it lays on his lap. dude was fuckin' OUT THERE. someone should've beaten him until he spit out an explanation for half the shit he's done.
