Recently read Serotonin by Michel houellebecq and god was that a depressing read. It probably didn't help that I'm not in the best place mentally right now and this book didn't help. Can /lit/ recommend some literature that will restore faith in humanity?
Osamu Dazai, no longer human
>>24834300Diary of a wimpy kid, simple, funny, yeah
>>24834300The French are pretty into blackpilling via lit. Maybe leave Europe and try some love in the time of cholera? Dude fucks an old and busted, unattractive woman who he loves, and he gets off on it, history rolls on, but he just commits to the good life

The ending of Atomised was shitty
>>24835722It's like he thought "OK I've said what I want to say about contemporary society, now let me tie this all up in the most retarded way possible." Get a load of this faggot.
>>24834482reading the description it sounds just as depressing. oneitis is a disease
>>24834319NTA PS. Mark Gibeau's translation is much superior.
>>24835794Reading the triggered reviews have intruiged me enough to try it thoughbeit

>>24834300The painted bird - jerzy Kosinski
Was this ever released
>>24834300it's an imaginary story made up by some guy.
>>24836492They're still making it according to that Kirac channel. I think it's just the final footage needs his approval, apparently they've got hours and hours of sex footage with multiple different women. Apparently it was his Chinese wife's idea after they had arranged a big prostitute party for him in Morocco but had to cancel it for fear of getting killed over there
This thread spiralled into me reading and watching extensively about the porn movie that Houllebecq played in and went to court over later, followed by again me trying to figure out who the fuck the retards at KIRAC are and what are they supposed to be doingThe last three hours were a truly wild ride and I deeply regret visiting this shitty board
>>24834300>"uhhh women are robots">boring eurofaggot cheese and wine talkwho actually enjoys this shit besides metropolitan bug people who want a thrill out of vaguely "right wing" ideals and dick talk?
>>24836943What did you learn?
>>24835722>>24835789Houellebecq himself said he didn’t like the ending either. Read The Possibility of an Island for his redo of the epilogue of The Elementary Particles
>>24834319Grim
What is this about? I want to feel something.
>>24838868The impotent crashout of an aging, terminally horny man jaded by vapid modern women

>>24839164What do you mean it's literally you? It's literally me
>>24837908He is my go to slop author. When I did read something heavy or complicated I sometimes like to read Houellebecq afterwards to relax. No complicated prose, no complicated story and no complicated ideas (or rather always the same in every book). But still somehow enjoyable and far more interesting than most slop out there.
>>24838868Depression and black pill shit about the state of modernity, particularly about the breakdown between men and women and the lack of meaning in modernity
>>24839181Looks like you're literally him
>>24839221>go to slop authorSo true>But still somehow enjoyable and far more interesting than most slop out thereHe tells you what you’re already feeling but don’t know how to say. He’s a fellow passenger and that’s comforting. Just wish I knew French because he seems poetic at times but it’s totally lost in English translation
