>>24835921Please, it's only kind of really bad.
>>24835921>mfw I was gifted a copy by my gfBy god women are absolutely clueless
>>24835921Oh, is that why we still talk about it 125 years later?
>>24835921>I didn’t read it I just want (You)s
>>24835921Jonathan's letters from the castle alone make this book worth reading. Peak atmospheric gothic horror. The Van Hellsing chapters bring the book down a notch, but it's still far from bad, you've just got shit taste.
>>24836101The only good part is the first part at the Castle. The rest is abysmal. Guy should have just cut his book in half.

Eggers' Nosferatu was kino. I only learned recently that the original Nosferatu was a rip off of Dracula and not its own thing. Just changing names and location to avoid copyright claims, lol.>Even with several details altered, Stoker's widow Florence sued over the adaptation's copyright violation, and a court ruling ordered all copies of the film to be destroyed.[5] However, several prints of Nosferatu survived,[1] and the film came to be regarded as an influential masterpiece of cinema and the horror genre.
>>24835921The first half is excellent, but the rest is incredibly boring, although the ending is good. I was surprised by how good Coppola’s adaptation is
>>24836169>>24836117>>24835921>Johnathan at the castleExcellent>Mina and Lucy's letters talking about betrothalAwful>anything with SewardInteresting>anything with Van HelsingBoring>Lucy's dilemmaFun>Any scene with RenfieldDelicious>any scene with QuincyRootin tootin, get the winchesters>Dracula's retreatBoring>Van Helsing and Mina go winter camping with magic crackersBoring>End sequence with dirty gypsiesFun, but super rushed
>>24836165>Eggers' Nosferatu was kino.It was underwhelming, only people with no film culture whatsoever were impressed.
>>24835921the bit at the castle is interesting the rest is fucking boooooooooooring
>>24836572>only people with no film culture whatsoever were impressed.Wow you are so cool for watching 8 1/2 or Chungking Express or whatever the fuck. Pretentious. Eggers is the best living horror director and you are gay and fat.
>>24835921Literally a shameless ripoff of Carmilla.
>>24836679I'm sorry for your tastes.
>>24836357Read it recently and had the same impression. Also the shit grammar of van Helsing get annoying quickly.

>>24836945If friend anon does not like words of van helsing, he is of child brain. Broken english is man brain way of speaking. It did get old though, especially with his long monologues.
>>24835921Why?>>24835929Based
>>24837199You can't be serious...
>>24835921It's really not that bad at all. Some of the characters and their decisions feel artificial af, but the writing is pleasant and main characters getting up-to-speed with what the reader knows is a tension well built.
>>24837222i'm not Sirius, i'm Shirley
>>24837253Ohh weee, then show me your tits honeybun.
>>24837199Finally, someone has the courage to say what we're all thinking.
>>24837241The biggest issues, in my opinion, are the pacing and the character development. The pacing goes from page turner to absolute slog depending on the chapter. Then there are scenes that are great, but horribly rushed. Some characters receive too much development time that goes nowhere, or is spent on mundane things instead of anything of worth (Mina, Lucy) and others receive little to no real development (Quincy, Arthur, Van Helsing). The latter example is especially egregious because a good chunk of the novel involves Van Helsing, but you're just supposed to accept that he is the absolute man, and a lot of scenes featuring him are mostly rants instead of developing any type of substantial backstory. He just knows things, ok? He's so fucking cool, ok? Shut up, dude, don't ask why or how he knows this stuff, we gotta sprinkle cookies on Dracula's bed and Lucy needs another blood transfusion.
>>24835921Stoker is not known to be a particularly good writer. He just created a particularly great character with Dracula
>>24837199This anon knows...
>>24837385What is Dracula's character?
