Im only a third of the way through it, but I can't put it down. The story leaves me equal parts repulsed and jealous. Repulsed by the scuminess, hopelessness, and depravity of these characters. Jealous of the brutish, hedonistic shenanigans they get themselves into. Granted, I wouldn't last 5 minutes in their world, but it really is a strikingly beautifal travel logue of the seedy 1980s Scottish underworld.I think I'll pick up Welsh's Filth next.

Welsh has clearly gone senile from all the drug abuse and cannot write anything of a decent quality. Picrel is unironically the worst book I've ever read.
