Why did women decide to kill literature by flooding every bookstore with
derivative uninspired trash?
What are they trying to achieve?

Girls just wanna have fun
>>
>>24841320
Buy more books
>>
>>24841320
why did you feel the impulse to make this weak thread?
>>
On the one hand it’s kind of trad because women keeping publishing afloat by buying smut has been the case for a long long time, but on the other I think it’s a new thing for them to have intellectual pretensions about it that among other things led them to wage a campaign against “litbros”/ambitious novels
>>
(you) killed literature when (you) decided that pirating everything would have no negative effects on the viability of writing the kind of books (you) like to read
>>
>>24841320
Women are the only ones keeping bookstores alive
>>
>>24841320
It was not by design. It is simply their nature to destroy
Liberalism gave them the freedom, capitalism gave them the means
They'll get to video games eventually too
>>
>>24841320
bookstores are basically porn outlets for women now
>>
>>24841320
>bookstore shelves are stocked with the books that actually sell
>friendless sperg with 3TB of pirated literature that he'll never read declares that Literature Is Dead
broke NEETs stay seething. buy the books you want to see more of.
>>
>>24841354
>They'll get to video games eventually too
It's been over a decade since you retards first said this. "Eventually" is never coming.
Those are just windmills, senor Quixote.
>>
>>24841399
How did you know that I have no friends?
>>
m*n already killed it with their isekai LN degeneracy
>>
>>24841337
>>24841399
I'm not paying 30 for a book.
>>
>>24841320
>why do business cater to people who buy from them
A mystery for the fucking ages. There are sections for men as well. It’s the self help books, financebro books, dudebro books (Jocko and other podcast swine). Men just aren’t buying many books. When they do it’s not often from bookstores. And when they do that it’s seldom new literature, it’s something from the classics shelf.
>>24841413
Honestly this is what the “cater to men” shelves would look like if they went all out. Lowest denominator crap. Wish fulfillment garbage and mangatroons.
>>
>>24841428
Sincerely, why not? What's the value calculation you're running through that makes you decide that's not a reasonable amount to pay for a book?
I get that we've been culturally trained to Consoom all art and media as if we're entitled to it, but you can push back against that. You don't have to buy every book that you intend to read, that can get unwieldy quite fast, but you can put your money behind the art you like.

I do most of my reading through the library and then keep a shortlist of books I love enough to buy a personal copy of. I do the same thing with music: casual listening through Spotify, and then buying merch, physical copies, and concert tickets from my favorite artists.
>>
>>24841432
No it wouldn't it would be filled with history books, which is a step above whatever trash women are reading.
>>
>>24841437
>it would be filled with history books
lol
lmao, even
Not even going to bother with the implication that the same old Romeslop is somehow more "high minded" than Romantasy™ porn
>>
>>24841320
Women aren't consciously trying to do anything. They're just retarded
>>
>>24841320
Women are deciding the market trends because they're the ones who are actually reading. Are a lot of the books popular among women right now, low-tier garbage that will be forgotten within the next 5 years? Obviously, but that's been true throughout human history. It's easy to look back fondly on the great literature that's maintained its popularity and relevance throught history, but there was just as much fluff and garbage back then as there is now, at least proportionally to the amount that being produced.

Penny dreadfuls, shitty plays, awful short stories, they all existed, and people consumed and enjoyed them. To say that women are destroying literature by reading crap, is ridiculous. Many great works struggled to find publication in the past, and were met with financial failure when first published, the fact that it's difficult to write and publish a good book today, is no different version of reality to that of the past.

I'm sure that when oral story telling was first starting out, there was some primative human who tried to make craft a story that explored the meaning of being and existence, tried to capture some intrinsic part of what it meant to be human. Then everyone called him gay, and listened to the other guy's story about killing a mammoth by throwing a rock at it.

There's nothing new under the sun anon

People still buy music????

Video games are unplayable now compared with ten years ago when they were already on a decline from ten years before that.
>>
>>24841961
>Video games are unplayable because they've been updated with realistic graphics, ads, and options to pay for more content
>>
>>24841967
Literally what the fuck is wrong with you to defend ads and microtransactions
How did your life go so wrong?
>>
>>24841320
Girls and fun are one. That's right. Girls and fun have won, and who will wipe this blood off us?
>>
>>24841961
You just have shit taste. Plenty of great games released this year alone.
Maybe you miss being young and having fewer responsibilities in life.
>>
>>24841970
Ads are a nonstarter necessity. If you never see the content you would spend money on, how will you know to buy it? These people also need to gain money from their hard work, anon. Even a harmless free ad is no big deal.
>>
>>24841320
The TV and internet destroyed literature, bookstores are kept alive only because women can't goon to pictures.
>>
>>24841978
This guy would put unskippable ads in books for every few pages if he could
>>
>>24842088
Why not? They already do that with comic books.
