How come there has never been a racing novel? Imagine all the great descriptions of car races. I believe there could be iconic writing off these.

If it's NASCAR it's even worse because there's only one turn over and over again.

this is probably the best fiction recommendation but other than that, you can just read biographies from people who have lived and breathed motorsport. racing drivers, especially in the 21st century, are sportsmen not poets. for you to find the most vivid descriptions of the great motor races you'll have to dial the clock back a few decades and read the old stuff when the education system was still decent enough to produce people with a respectable amount of articulation for speaking and writing and drivers weren't created and raised like machines for the sole purpose of driving a racing car.
>the unfair advantage by mark donohue
>winning is not enough by jackie stewart
>pretty much any senna biography
are fantastic and if you really feel like emptying your wallet, try to find biographies of drivers from the 1960s and earlier but good luck as those books have been out of print for decades and easy fetch high 3-figure prices.

you can also read works by non-drivers like mechanics, crew chiefs, team bosses, etc. who have a third person view of the race and can often be surprisingly contemplative.

alternatively, you can just read the great motoring journalist articles if you simply want to admire great writing about cars in general.
>bmw 2002 review by david e. davis for car and driver
>song of the sausage creature by hunter s. thompson (this one is about motorbikes)
>behind F1's velvet curtain by kate wagner
>1994 mclaren F1 humbles all over supercars by peter robinson for car and driver
>how 3 broke geeks turned drag racing on its head by cole coonce
>with moss in the 1955 miglia by denis jenkinson
all are neat reads
