To me king's guard doesn't make any sense. Why would any noble be part of it?
For example Tudor guard was Yeomen of the Guard. The yeomen themselves were social rank between a peasant and a knight.

Daenerys is going to be absolutely despised once she reaches Westeros. Her army consists of former slaves (and with unsullied, how can they even stop being slaves if they've been trained for such unwavering obedience?) and Dothraki, who are good for nothing except raping and pillaging.
And in her entourage she's going to Victarion, who will be despised by the Westermen and Northmen (and even the Ironborn for being a sore loser), Tyrion, known kin- and kingslayer and Jorah Mormont, slaver and overall pathetic failure.

This doesn't work either, as for example it takes at least 100 days (in the best conditions) for wheat to grow to harvest and the reverse, with multi-years long summers would result in extreme droughts, with the Trident becoming little more than a muddy creek.

The multi-years long seasons is an interesting concept for a sci-fi story, with the colonists adapting and trying to survive but just doesn't work for ASOIAF.

Just realized Maester Luwin purposely misrepresented his conversation with Benjen about Jon joining the Watch. He was probably trying to ingratiate himself with Catelyn. During that conversation, Benjen was clearly trying to deter Jon from joining too young, encouraging him to experience life first before joinging. He likely went to Luwin knowing Luwin could reach Ned even while he was busy with Robert, and asked him to have Ned sit down with Jon about the gravity of the decision. But Luwin instead told Ned that Jon had discussed joining the Watch with Benjen, stripping away all the context. Even Ned seems surprised by that revelation.
