Are there any screen adaptations that you enjoyed more than the book?I, Claudius the TV show captivated me from the start, but when I picked up the book years later I ended up dropping it before the halfway point
>>24845781I loved I, Claudius the book but dropped Claudius the God. There’s only so much cucking I can take in a book. Picked up another of Grave’s books:Count Bellisarius. What do I find? More cucking. As for adaptations… I found the Nero Wolfe tv show from the early 2000s very charming. Perfectly cast with a lot of effort put into getting the feel of the time periods right. The BBC adaption or Maigret was also great with Mr. bean as the titular detective. Also, perfect casting and getting the time periods aesthetics right

The fact that Chandler fans hate this absolute kino has convinced me to never read Chandler
>>24845781Legends of the Fall
>>24845781Purple moon with Alain Delon was more fun than the Highsmith book. I enjoyed the twist ending more that the book doesn’t have (spoilers).
>>248457812023 Count of Monte Cristo movie absolutely blows the book out of the water, ties up the loose plot and actually makes it a decent story about the morality of revenge.

>>24845781The Talented Mr. Ripley, easily
>>24848592Beat me too it. Imo the Minghella characterisation & ending mogs both though, like he said "I have little interest in a story all about a guy who does evil and feels no particular way about it"
>>24846864I dropped Claudius the God too. It's just not interesting after he's at the top.
>>24845781Kubrick's Shinning over Kings easily. Yes I read King, I was young once.
>>24848349I’m a Chandler fan and I think that and The Big Lebowski are my favorite films based on Marlowe.
>>24848684The guy Pearce one is the best and also is superior to the book
I started reading this, thinking it really was an autobiography of Claudius, and was like "damn this dude had such a modern way of thinking" and stopped to look up some stuff midway through, only to discover this shit was american fanfiction all along. God damn it
>>24848684the novel's ending is much better
