>Almost twice as many words as the Bible
What the fuck was he writing about?
>>

I've read a bit of this. One of his first conquests is just him straight up raping a woman.

which way western man?
>>
Giving ladies of the court the dick and shooting nons dead. It's a great read, unironically.
>>
I can't wait until AI is good enough to get it to rewrite History of My Life but instead of Casanova it will rewrite it as Mystery.
>>
>>24858496
He's French.
>>
I still need to read this and Memoirs d'Outre Tombe.
>>
>>24858486
It's probably the greatest book in the Western canon and a snapshot of ordinary life in his time. It is often hilarious.

He was an interesting guy. Parents abandoned him to be actors, he gets well-educated, uses charisma and storytelling to enter high society, fucks tons of women, never holds a consistent job, escapes from prison, and just has adventures all the way into his 50s. Then he became a bitter loser because he was aging and his patrons stopped giving him money. He complained about his wrinkles and got sad so he lost all confidence, then women didn't want to fuck him anymore. He was broke, old, had no skills, and accomplished nothing by this time. He spends the last 20 years of his life working in a library alone and then writes his memoirs. They end up being the greatest insight into 18th century European culture and life over any other text.

>nooo i'm old and women don't want to fuck me anymore, life is over after 50
If this nigger knew what 70 y/o Ben Franklin was pulling in France maybe he wouldn't have been so gay at the end of his life.
>>
>>24858771
... You mean Italian, right?
>>
>>24858548
AI can literally already do that. Writing full books is one of the things it is best at. I've had it write dozens already.
>>
>>24859603
>I've had it write dozens already.
And they are shit
>>
>>24859572
No, I meant French... I suppose my whole life I just assumed a degen aristocrat was a Frenchman... My bad, anon.
>>
>>24859572
He was an honorary Frenchman. He even wrote in French so we claim him now.
>>
>>24858500
Right is the greatest achievement of western lit
Left is fun
>>

>Right is the greatest achievement of western lit
That's not Blood Meridian
>>
>>24860150
Maybe if you interpret western to mean there are cowboys
>>
I heard he had a big dick
Is that correct anons?
>>
>>24860081
But he wasn't an aristocrat.
>>
>>24858496
No wonder women loved him.
>>
>>24859564
Franklin was fabulously wealthy, well connected, and loved porking old widows. A bit different from an old broke nigga who still wanted tight young trim.
>>
>>24858486
Charles-Joseph, le 7ème Prince de Ligne mogs him.
One of the most interesting character traits of Casanova, for me, is neither the cocksmanship, nor the polymathy, whether real or mere affectation, but the absolute, indelible class envy which permeates his oeuvre (debatable, daring take) and ultimately defines his life.

(couldn't be fucked to search for an English version, not that I didn't try. Nowhere to be found in the 7th or 8th Tome of Trask's translation, maybe 9/10 or 5/6? Anna's archive is too slow and as much as it pains me to say it, I will probably never subscribe)

Legendary tirade on nobility and merit (Tome 7, Chapter 16, Édition Garnier Frères - 1880)

In terms of writing or dicking broads or both?
>>
>>24860229
He doesn't mention it
>>
>>24860403
both, but in terms of style of writing it's obvious that Casanova's was tainted with Italianisms and consequently Latinisms at a time where the French language remained very abstract, classical (moralists, Princesse de Clèves..) and has for a long while been considered sub-par.
Mme. de Staël (iirc) compiled the writings of Prince de Ligne, what came of it, is a collections of essays/aphorisms, aphoristic essays, anecdotes of various uses and of definite interest.

They're actually the best writing I've ever read in my life.

Still hating on AI is extremely NPC.
>>
>>24860724
You're sitting around reading books written by a tarted-up autocomplete algorithm. You have no right to call others NPCs.
>>
>>24860731
I gave it all the parameters of what I wanted. It was my book idea. It merely generated it instantaneously, saving me years of time writing it myself or tracking down a book that comes close to replicating it, and ultimately most likely failing in doing so. And since it saves time on a scale previously unseen in humanity, you can speed along the learning process and learn more quickly. Now that art as a whole is essentially SOLVED, I can devote my life to science and philosophy, while you still vainly and narcissistically try to write the great American novel about a depressed loner who is literally you.
I unironically hope that AI puts every single artist, writer, musician and filmmaker out of business. Then you philosophy majors might have to do something else with your life.
>>
>>24858486
The Nova House of course
>>
>>24858496
She liked it and teased him afterwards about how will she explain at confession that she cheated on her husband with a priest
>>
>>24858486
Nohing important. Moronic people get triggered when they read too much into him.
>>
>>24860772
I pity you.

>>24860805
Quality rebuttal.

Thanks.

>I unironically hope that AI puts every single artist, writer, musician and filmmaker out of business

They won't go out of business. Many will though. The good ones will use AI to their advantage and thrive. The bad ones will talk shit about AI, avoid it, and get steamrolled by the competition.

>chad becomes a bitter faggot the moment his looks fade
>>
The fate of Lucie devastated me when I read it.
>>
>>24858486
I would rather read some abridged version.
>>
>>24862733
Probably your best bet, though you are better off with a collection of some of his selected sexual escapades rather than one that sums up his life. Just be sure to read about his escape from jail

>The frontispiece of woman runs from top to bottom like that of a book, and her feet, which are most important to every man who shares my taste, offer the same interest as the edition of the work. If it is true that most amateurs bestow little or no attention upon the feet of a woman, it is likewise a fact that most readers care little or nothing whether a book is of the first edition or the tenth.
