Mind bending stuff, work designed to induce alternate states of consciousness, conspiracies, high strangeness, prose that reveals the underlying nature of reality

>>24858993it's YA stuff my mad ladfun read for what it is but you need to read a lot more short fiction to even have a case here
>>24859005I cannot possibly imagine how you'd find it fun if you couldn't see the occult stuff. Otherwise its not that great.
>>24859013maybe try re-reading it as a comedy
>>24858870>pic unrelatedThe Magus is just a masturbatory exercise in self-exploration.
>>24859030nah, ill stick to reading it as what it was meant for; a wink to travellers
Aberration in the Heartland of the Real cites Libra by Don DeLillo a lot. Apparently the author did a lot of exhaustive research into the assassination of JFK and the book is really keyed-in into the subject.
>>24858870I read like 80-100 pages of this when he sees the dead wife of whatever his name is rich guy(i forgot his name) when he calls over to his house. And that's kindof it. I remember it was conchis or whatever his name was. Does it get better? Because until then, I have to say "nothing really happened"
>>24858870>Mind bending stuff>the magusDid the BBC cuckholding scene awaken something in you? Because otherwise I can't see anyone being wowed by this tripeAnyway, I would recommend the valis trilogy and early pynchon

I don't know if I fully understand what you're looking for, but for fiction, pic related is highly underrated as a weird text. I'd also add typical stuff like Borges, Philip K. Dick, Robert Anton Wilson, William Blake, etc. I think I may understand what you're looking for more in nonfiction:Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas is a good text on astrology and history, also a good starting point for someone who doesn't necessarily believe in astrology.>Passport to Magonia by Jacques Vallee>The Eighth Tower by John Keel>The Goblin Universe by Fredrick Holiday All of these books are basically theories of high strangeness itself. Also because I read it recently and it's on my mind, Kabbalah and Criticism by Harold Bloom is a really interesting book. It's mostly about literature and influence, so you'd like it if you're interested in those topics, but it also serves as an interesting interpretation of Kabbalah itself.
>>24860353Bret Easton Ellis, most known for American PsychoHis novels don't really have anything to do with ghosts or the occult, but they're full of nihilistic edgelord psychopaths and that stuff always overlaps with the paranormal crowd
