>>24860179>finally released in english today?Physical copy won't even be available until 2026
>>24860179>Look up Ice by Jacek Dukaj>It came out in 2007
>>24860536finally released IN ENGLISH, dumb frogposter.
>>24860549Why did it take 20 years to translate?
>>24860552Why did Life And Fate take twenty-seven years to be translated?
>>24860552probably because it's 1200 pages + filled with difficult to translate stylization and neologisms + only like five people in america are going to actually read it
>>24860498i can't hold a hardcover book that size, it will hurt my delicate faggotish wrists
>>24860498apparently it's going to be printed on tissue-tier paper with a tiny font to save money, so i wouldn't bother. in photos it looks half as thick as the og polish hardcover.
>>24860194good to know the people recommending this are plebs, that was a genuinely useful comment
>>24862511Got any photos? I was going to preorder one
>>24862511here's original vs translation, and that's despite the translation being longer at 1200 pages vs 1050. i haven't seen any interior photos but this>https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQB9pFPjneO/says the font is small.

Is the packaging amazon uses good 'nuff? I don't want my book to arrive all fucked up.
>>24860498Us pirate chads are eatin' good.
>>24860179I got the audiobook because it’s just 9 bucks or whatever. This better be good anon. Excerpt sounded okay. I like Lem so this would be the second Polish scifi sausage I enjoy.
>>24860179>>24860184Ice Ice baby
>>24860556Should I read Life and fate or Ice?
>>24860194>>24860179>1200 pages Immediately dropped. If you’re genuinely reading 1200 page books you need to get a life, you faggot. >>24860184160 pages? I might read this one afternoon.
>>24862598Not even trying to dissuade you but no, their shipping of books is notoriously awful. I get a hardcover last year in such poor condition that somehow the jacket wasnt just fucked up on the outside, it was literally ripped on the inside flap.
>>24863032Damn. I guess I'll try somewhere else.
>>24863027
I ain't reading any 1,200 page fiction, sorry.
>>24862598Amazon is so shit at this I don't think I have a single book from them without a ding. Which is amazing for a company that exists because they outcompeted bookstores. The upside is making returns or demanding compensation is usually hassle free and at their expense. Savings on big ticket items can be enormous to my local stores (-30%, -50%) so I actually bother what can be several rounds of back and forth. If you aren't seeing big savings for god's sake buy from someone else.
>>24863077You're not reading 120 or 1.2 either, homo
this is an anna kavan thread
>>24860184Truth. Pic related is almost the same book. Are they connected somehow?
>transStopped reading. Nope. Not for me.
>>24863027>160 pages? I might read this one afternoon.WOW LOOK AT ME IM SO SMART I CAN READ SO FART
>>24862598They shipped me schattenfroh which is the same size if not bigger with no issues
>>24863899160 pages on a Saturday afternoon isnt a flex bro
