Drop what you are reading and read or listen to this immediately. It’s a seminal, generation defining work. It strikes at the tap root of everything going on today, dissects modernity in doing so, and identifies the connection between and subsequently obliterates everything from global capitalism to environmental degradation to leftism to trannies to posthumanism.

Reinforces my suspicion that the 17th century philosophers who launched this global revolution were crypto satanists after all. Bacon being a Freemason and Descartes torturing dogs doesn’t help.
>>
Same guy who wrote The Wake? I've been meaning to read him for a while.

so can we make a collab?
>>

This actually looks interesting, thanks for the rec. Apparently it's on order at my library, put it on hold. Normally I'd just download it but...
>>
>>24861101
How unabomber-pilled is it?
>>
>>24861214
He builds upon and references Guenons The Crisis of the Modern World a fair bit in one of his chapters.
>>
>>24861234
I am about 2/3rds way through listening and he has made no mention of Ted or his take on things. However, Kingsnorth entirely bootstraps from Ellie’s technological society which heavily influenced Ted, along with Mumfords Myth of the machine volumes (which I don’t know if they influenced Ted) to characterize the Machine that Kingsnorth names his book off of.

You’re kind of right. Basically all of the modern era philosophers were into the esoteric, including Gnosticism. Which is only like one step away from being basically satanism.
The problem with modern era philosophy is that despite introducing a lot of actually useful ideas it also mentally cuts people off from the divine and exists as a means to rationalize the power of the ruling class and the people making the philosophy.

Also I didn’t know Descartes tortured animals and dissected them alive. Wtf.

Also thanks for posting this thread, I didn’t realize it wasn’t unavailable on Anna’s archive anymore <3

I read it about a week ago. Mentioned it here a few times. I think I have mixed feelings overall.

>>24861234
>>24861256
Towards the end, he states 'The internet and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race'

He also spends some time talking about Seraphim Rose.
>>
>>24861366
>I think I have mixed feelings overall.
I demand you to elaborate
>>
>>24861379
I didn't take away anything actionable that I can integrate into my own life. He's able to elaborate on the ways that modern society is bad. But I still have to live here. And I even find myself agreeing with some machine values.

And he completely in the religious turn towards the end. I'm sorry, but the notion that AI or the grid is some literal supernatural entity breaking into our reality from beyond is just not something I can take seriously.
>>
>>24861101
might read it.

>Seraphim Rose
I skimmed through the book and he mentions a lot of authors that schizos like whatifalthist like. Like Christopher Dawson and Iain McGilchrist. He seems like what rudyard might have been like if he was raised in a normie household instead of by two high iq ultra conservatives, and never saw dissident rightist information about the left.
>>
>>24861101
You guys are getting worked by le cool cover, this is a middle class ex-Greenpeace environmentalist turned Orthodox Christian and reads like something you'd find in the Guardian. It's as milktoast as it gets.

>'Is He uNcLe Ted??'

Lol
>>
>>24861298
What is this spineless garbage? If he’s not outright advocating to butcher board members of private equity groups then I don’t want to hear what he has to say. Tired of these sophists.
>>
>>24861101
I read as well thanks to the recommendation here.

I was more interested in hearing about his friend who lives without the internet and doesn't want his picture taken. As others have pointed out he definitely describes the problem, but doesn't offer good solutions.

I wish someone would make a practical guide a la Stallhman and his list of free software.

I'm about halfway through right now and there are some great parts, and there are some parts I don't agree with, and there are some parts where I've been like, "okay paul, calm down buddy..."

looks like he wrote a book called Uncivilization: The Dark Mountain Manifesto with a jewy looking guy named Dougald Hine.
>It strikes at the tap root of everything going on today, dissects modernity in doing so, and identifies the connection between and subsequently obliterates everything from global capitalism to environmental degradation to leftism to trannies to posthumanism.
Does he actually give solutions or is it merely women tier chicken little crying? Because these guys glow just as much as bacon and descartes without the charm
>Reinforces my suspicion that the 17th century philosophers who launched this global revolution were crypto satanists after all. Bacon being a Freemason and Descartes torturing dogs doesn’t help.
that's a lot of words to say crypto-jew

Paul Kingsnorth is the living meme of the guy at the party who’s mad at everyone having a good time and that all the hot chicks are not bagging him because he’s smart and sees through the bullshit, maaaaaaaaan. Like all weirdo environmental activists. Honestly, he’s good at first. You start agreeing with him and his metaphors are generally on point and he has a poetic sense for nostalgia and romanticism of the past. And you like it and think of your own experiences and you start to think, “hmm, yeah I probably should get out in nature more and relax a bit.” And then, as they all do, he starts getting a little too aggressive like, “oh well you at least have to admit Marx was kinda brilliant” and it suddenly morphs into, “oh there I was in a fishing village on vacation and I suddenly realized everyone else here on vacation is a bunch of fucking slaves! Drinking their beer and enjoying chocolate! But not me man! I’m not a slave because I see the bullshit man. They didn’t even grow their own hops, man!” And by the end of it he thinks the west should basically commit civilizational suicide and everyone should join his cult commune in Kent where he will ostensibly be cult leader and have his concubines frolick around the fields sucking his dick. I think at the beginning he even says like, “oh I used to be an environmental activist but I’m not anymore…” and there are at least twenty moments in the book where I paused to reread it because he sounds like a deranged fucking environmentalist lunatic. But hey, it’s cool your favorite right wing twitter account that likes vague aristocratic aesthetics and didn’t actually read the book but is always reposting things about wanting to #Return likes him. To each their own I guess.

All you did was made a giant straw man to attack the author. Odds are you are a tranny who is having a melty over Paul pointing out you are a proto-Transhuman guinea pig for global capital.

That’s leftypol, but if the shoe fits it fits, and seems like it does for you.

Ah yes, anyone who doesn’t agree we should return to 1025 AD Britain is lefty “because I said so”. A classic. A true intellectual working within reality, you and Paul are.
>>
>>24863327
When compared against a reactionary stance, yes, everyone who embodies modern metaphysics and advances the development of global capital whether in a socialist or capitalist manner is a leftist. Cope and seethe about it.

Uh-huh. Another commie psy-op anti-libertarian while ripping off libertarian ideas rant by yet another guy who thinks who doesn't need to take a shower and wonders why he can't get any but insecure chicks.

Look for the cat-lady cleaning-the-litter-box is anti-ecology capitalist oppression version coming soon.
