The scat scene in this isn’t anywhere near as erotic as the Jewess in Infinite Jest

>Hal and Mario in the bunk beds
>Hal clips his toenails
>Drug test prep time

What do you mean look out for? What does it mean to look out for a scene in a novel, and why would you want to do it?

>Do you read?
do you, you smug dickhead? personally i like to purge myself of memey preconceptions before encountering a text. i would hate reading if i felt i had a gaggle of 4chan posters looking over my shoulder and whispering received opinions in my ear the whole time. it's bizarre and lazy to want to be pre-fed an interpretive schema for the work before you read it yourself. it's like how slop films use the soundtrack to tell the dullards when the important emotional scenes are occurring (and it's a feature of slop narratives that they have a hierarchy of important versus unimportant moments; in a good novel the whole thing hangs together holistically and every moment is equally essential). if DFW wanted to hammer home which were the Key Scenes he'd have put a bullet-pointed list at the front of each chapter. but he's writing a novel, not a high-school textbook. have faith in DFW and have faith in your own aesthetic sensibility.
