How do you get into Hegel?
>>
>>24864357
You start with the Greeks obviously.

All jokes aside you need to know at least the basics of Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Descartes and Kant. Then it will be a joyride.
>>

>start with the greeks
>but all jokes aside, start with the greeks

If you’re intelligent enough, you smoke datura to get a psychotic brake and ruin your brain. If you’re a retard, none of this is needed and you can just consume Hegelslop without any context. It’s all meaningless drivel.

You see what I did there?

There are so many cute asian girls into EDM and just the angriest men into hegel, I think I know what will bring me happiness anons, I'm sorry, I really am. But I'm letting you go. Unless any philosophy anons tell me what philosophical pussy is like? Does it even exist?

More importantly, why does a board devoted to literary fiction have this perpetual infestation of philosophy pseuds? Why don't you stick to your home boards of /his/ and /fag/? Why come here and ruin everything?
>>
because literature is philosophy with a plot for the slowbois
>>
The idea of a woman understanding Hegel is like the idea of a bee running for president. I have never seen that.
>>
>>24864689
As always fiction fags are perpetually insecure over the fact you’ve wasted countless hours reading slop instead of stuff that actually matters like philosophy and history. Same vibe and attitude gaymers have when you tell them they wasted their childhood and young adulthood.

History is interesting in the same way a gossip tabloid is interesting, since it's a collection of biased, half assed, simplified events of political bickering over inane bullshit. Philosophy is straight up a waste of time, used to be a passtime for the rich and bored who didn't have to work, and the fact that some people genuinely believe they can have a living out of it it, selling their own worthless musings on life, is not even hilarious, it's so deluded it's pitiful to witness.

Because /his/ is amongst the worst boards of this website. It's tarnished by schizos and /pol/tards flinging shit at each others with threads about how haplotypes justify their racist beliefs or religious nutcases selling their own warped version of christianity.

There was a reading list for Hegel underneath the pinned post. It's gone now along with the site that produced it, but some anon might've retained a copy (although apparently it was pretty shit). There's also a pdf detailing the list online if you're really stuck. Good luck

Hegel’s works contained unknown discoveries about the nature of reality, so they were edited later on to pure nonsense to discredit Hegel. Hegel was later murdered, and Marx’ philosophy was invented to further discredit Hegel. Communism itself was all one giant conspiracy to discredit Hegel and make people forget about his discoveries. It worked.
>>
>>24866844
That. To be honest with you, I doubt how essential it is for someone who wants to understand Hegel to read Saint Maximus the Confessor or Marsilio Ficino. I suppose it's meant to be 'thorough' for the sake of at least looking "ultimate". But then, the omission of Hume is weird to me too (in light of the aforementioned authors being prioritized) but it's better than nothing I guess? I don't understand Hegel because I'm an idiot and a fool, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable has a better selection of similar length. Thank you for posting it nevertheless

it was made by someone who sees Hegel as primarily working in the tradition of esotericism and platonism. so it will promote those features over others. it is pretty damning that Hume isn't in here, as well as the fact that the whole immediate post-Kantian tradition is extremely barebones. Like three books by Fichte and Schelling and that's all. its better than nothing but I really think you would spend your time better reading everything in the early modern tradition than the church fathers.

Do you actually need to read much more than Plato, Aristotle and Kant (thoroughly, of course) to be able to understand Hegel?

I wonder how many Hegel enthusiasts have bothered to read any of Hegel's works beyond Phenomenology of Spirit and Philosophy of Right
>>
>>24867657
Hegel has a reputation for being difficult to understand and given that there are so many overlooked philosophers that came before Hegel, it would probably be a good idea to read them if you want to be prepared.
>>
>>24867803
Most people working in academia did.

You use Chat GPT to explain Hegel's works through short bullet points, and then you go on the date acting like you have read his entire body of work.

It's really that simple.
