Should double translations be banned? No one wants to read double translated slop
>>24879963You mean second-hand translations? What if there are no qualified translators between the original language and the target language available?
What if a translation is better than the original work? Then other first hand translation to other language would be the slop.

>>24879963The best Brothers Karamazov translation in my country is a double translation (from French) where they got an expert in Russian lit to fix some of the passages. The direct from Russian version is not that good to read, IMO.Also, some of the best Bibles have double translation, since they translate from the Vulgata. The best one in my country is a double translation from the Vulgata.

>>24881869>>24882541BR. HueheueheuehuehueWe have direct translations for Dostoevsky from 3 guys here.Brothers Karamazov have a particularity in that my favorite one didnt translate it, the other one just "corrected" a version translated from the French and the other one is from a translator I just don't like the style of writing (not because he is a commie, some people dont read his translation because of this, I just dislike his writing style).
