More like this or something that talks about difference in class. I would prefer to keep the Marxism to a minimum.

>>24880152>I want to read books about class >without being class conscious
>>24880251I mean you won't dare touch race with a ten foot pole whenever crime is discussed.
>>24880278Like phrenology and astrology, academics have thoroughly engaged with racial determinism. Your personal feelings toward their conclusions might blind you to this fact.
>>24880251Class relations as a subject is not inseparable from Marxism desu. For example It’s a common idea among certain based rightist circles that the leftist managerial class engages in really bad class repression against primarily the white working class but also essentially every other class of people in society. The priests, the nobility, the bourgeoisie, entrepreneurs, etc. read pic related its very good.
>>24880251Do you think the only possible perspective to talk about class from is Marxism?Question 2: Are you a Marxist?Question 3: When will you kill yourself, and could it be sooner?
>>24880251I am once again asking where did Marx ever use the term or anything even closely related to "class consciousness"
>>24880251I'm gonna rape your waifu you posted
>>24880239Sorry I'd rather not read frogs on the subject
>>24880152>I would prefer to keep the Marxism to a minimum. Then don't read Marx. Or what you mean is you don't actually want to hear anything critical of the system that makes poverty?
>>24880152A lot of the best literature on lower class sociology was actually written by middle class left-wingers who went "undercover" to study the poor. You have to sort of read between lines because in the midst of all the ideology there's often plenty of empirical insights that the author is clearly embarrassed by. Oscar Lewis is the classic example. His colleagues raked him over the coals for accurately reporting his observations of poor people in India, Mexico, and P.R. acting like contemptible fools. Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed also comes to mind. Promises I Can Keep and Doing the Best I Can are a pair of works on American single moms and dads respectively. William Julius Wilson's When Work Disappears I hear is also good.
>>24880152On the opposite end - The City and Mountains by Eca De Quieros.Second thread today I recommend this book even though it's not even really a favorite of mine. I just think the regular users here would enjoy it a lot.
>>24880984I mean its not that, I just want something analytic instead of critical.
>>24880986thanks for the recommendations>>24881058I have this, but thanks
>>24880986Oh whats also some stuff on middle and upper classes too?
