Black people, prior to European colonisation and subjugation, had no concept of logic in the traditional European sense, obviously. Black ways of knowing came from systems which were relational, communal, and spiritual. By European standards, these ways of knowing would be considered irrational because the very concept of rationality is steeped in the European ideal of a civilised white male. African men were viewed by white colonisers as uncivilised, therefore irrational, which contributed to the genocide of their epistemology. The de-legitimisation of black ways of knowing and black epistemological frameworks contributes also to the perceived problems African refugees cause to white Europeans. If African men are separated from the whiteness of logic and reason, which many African refugees are, then it poses a problem for the systemic white supremacy embedded in European structures of power like politics and the judiciary system.
