You're also stuck in a single POV who's just not very interesting. Knowing what we know about fantasy series spiraling out of control, being unfinished, authors literally dying before they finish, I'm not sure how you can justify the buy-in to any series that's not shockingly good from the very first page. The promise of "this might be something in 900 pages" is actually insane.
