>Read LOTR >nothing else comes closeSigh
Why is this series being shilled on here lately? I'm about to finish book 3 and there are huge chunks of the books that are just poor. Poorly written, poorly conceived, poorly executed. This should have faded to obscurity within 2 decades. I often think it's a world people like thinking about, dissecting and supposing, instead of actually engaging with the works themselves

>>24882957>latelywtf you talking about nigg? its the go too entry level shill fantasy book cause everyone has heard of it. I do somewhat agree that its not all that amazing, though entertaining enough.>>24882942In what way? I feel like Howards's Conan stories are more raw, Vances dying earth is more wonderous, and the moral subject of Ivanhoe are more thought provoking.DESU I think Tolkien's Silmarillion is much more impressive and unique of a work, since it attempts to create a full mythical canon in the veins of an elder/yonger edda or Bible instead of a traditional singular narritive.
