Imagine basing your fictional novel on some philosophical work. Imagine this seriously for a second. I don't mean taking inspiration, I mean writing one hand and reading something like being and nothingness with the other. What you are effectively doing is ripping some character's awakening, development, or catharsis from some other writer, and not coming up with it or stumbling upon it yourself. Seems pretty foul when I think about it at least, but maybe I'm just a poopoohead.
