Should I let them? They say I will get 40% of the returns from doing nothing. They would translate it into other languages as well. >Why not do it yourself? They have a subscription service with lots of active users looking for my genre (smutty romance).
>>24883874Ah, yes, I, too, also go to the shithole of the internet (4chan dot org) to ask for business advice and to make my life decisions. #Adulting
>>24883874if it's just for their platform, why not? you can still do a different recording for other platforms.
you're supposed to make a thread here after you get scammed not before
Reply with>40 per-cent?! My good fellow, while there is merit in your proposal, to take the lion's share yourself, seems quite the bum-bugged deal for my-self! But fret not, I am a man of reason, so do - with due haste - detail to me what, given the low expenses you would face - would warrant such an offer.>Signed, or as we say around here, >t.>OP, a faggot(if you go ahead do be kindly reminded that I request a modest percentage-based, perpetual fee for this service)
>>24883874>(smutty romance)you sold out to the overlords
>>24883874> They say I will get 40% of the returns from doing nothingChump points. Mysteriously any money made is going into the expenses column. There will never be 'returns'.
You should hire somebody to do the audio book, play them a flat rate, and keep 100% of the returns…..
>>24883874Simply put, Audible has about 2/3 of the market, and going exclusive with them will give you maybe 2/3 of the possible royalties you could make. In real terms, that looks like ~$1-$2 dollars per sale. That probably makes the most sense if you're a lazy retard that writes smutty romance slop for dumb cunts. >>24884032I'm guessing he's talking about Audible, that's their royalty rate for exclusive rights. Non-exclusive is 25%, other platforms are usually higher. You could reach more of an audience and ultimately make more money that way if you are exposed to as much of the auxiliary market as possible, but it means managing all of those platforms and probably producing your own audiobook. Part of Audible's take is for production of the audiobook. >>24884058Royalties don't work that way.>>24884061You'd still need to market it yourself and a platform(s) to distribute it, and nobody is going to do either for free. 2 sales on your personal website at 100% doesn't recover production costs let alone beat 1,000 sales at 40% on Amazon with zero direct production costs to you.
>>24884089If you make your own audio book can you get onto their platform?
I would rather read my own book but I guess I don't have the audio equipment for it. Will people give me a bad review if I just record using my iphone in my bedroom?
>>24883874Ask for a sample of their work. If it's AI text to voice, tell them to fuck off.
>>24883874Let me guess, random asshole on deviatart with an oh so painfully obvious form letter that smells as shifty as the fucking ganges.Because I get dozens of those and frankly I'm fucking sick of it. I wish, just once, I'd get some actual goddamn mail.
>>24883874Does anyone do videobooks? I want to watch but not hear. Does no one cater to the illiterate deaf?
>>24885120hollywood?
>>24883874As long as you write a simple contract that states IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that you not only retain all rights, including those to make a separate audio book release, you might as well if you have no plans of doing it yourself. But be upfront about wanting proof of their revenue so you can be sure you’re getting your cut. Unfortunately without investing any money or effort in to it you’ll likely have no ability to demand a cut of gross revenue and will have to settle for a portion of the potential profit but it’s literally money for work you already did. As well as exposure.
