I just finished the more recent movies of IT. Is the book worth picking up? I like the premise but hated the "spooky jump scare" shit they vomited every couple minutes.

It doesn't have the narrative issues the film versions do because it jumps back and forth between timelines instead of putting all the good stuff in the first half and disappointing stuff in the second. The main weakness is King setting up his metauniverse shit while stoned out of his mind. Most of the narrative paths in it are satisfying and entertaining.
both parts are told at the same time and flow much better in the book. you also get more backstory on the town derry. there's none of that indian bullshit in the book, but more cosmic/lovecraftian horror type of stuff with the turtle and deadlights. it's one of my top 5 stephen king books, but i haven't read it in almost a decade. the movies are horrible.
