What do you think of authors who shill themselves on this board, be it by purchasing an ad, posting personal promotions, or pretending to not be the author and posting personal promotions?
>>
>>24884777
they need to be doxxed and murdered. thank you for listening to my TED talk.
>>
>>24884780
What a terrible thing to say. Doing something like that would make one a sinner on the descent into perdition.
>>
>>24884777
Purchasing ads is whatever, doubt it's effective though. The LARPing ones are the worst. Reposting some literally who and pretending they're relevant. The ones who just start a thread saying they're so and so, and won't you look at their work, or that they just got published, or won some award, that I can respect because you'll always get savaged here. If they wanted a hugbox they could go to so many subreddits where everyone would le upboat and say good job and then never read or interact with it whatsoever.

>>24884804
Anon, I'm so and so and I just published a novella on Amazon KDP, which got awarded a 5 star review by Reader's Favorite. Won't you look at my work
>>
>>24884804
that's actually what makes this place so good. If can you come away from 4chan's resident critics unscathed, you've already made it.
>>
>>24884777
imagine site falling again due to some cheap trick and peoople linking someone more or less prominent to posting on hacker named 4chan
>>

They're wasting their money

Corndog zen had some potential to be the 'motorcycle maintenance for zoomers' but author was a massive faggot , self bumping for days and days.
No number of 'good boy' praises could satiate him. Most likely he's jerking off to his own screencaps till his day.
Sleeping on laurels wouldn't do.
In 7th grade, when lit teacher was reading my essay in front of class I also thought I'll be the next DFW.
Real authors wouldn't waste their time on cancerous basket weaving forums anyway. Real authors simply get shit done.

Blessed trips and based kot

yet you mention him. I did a similar thread with a wicked samurai skeleton picture around 2 weeks ago or whatever. He was in that thread and I gave a look into his book. Seemed like a fun text though I only read like 10 pages tops.
>>
oh yeah what is that font Wallace?
>>
>>24884889
It was pretty light shilling desu and he posted the book for free all the time. I think you’re over-reacting.

I’ve never read it so I can’t speak to the quality but I did see his posts occasionally this summer and he wasn’t really shilling so much as just throwing it out there. It wasn’t like F Gardner where he wanted people to pay for his shit and thought himself the worlds best writer.
>>
It’s annoying when they are resistant to the feedback they seek or expect you to pay for their work but aside from that I don’t care
>>
>>24886554
>oh no how dare the creative charge money for their work
I blame webnovelfags for this infalitile mentality
>>
>>24886639
If they want people to read it here, no one is going to pay for it. The authors that got even a shred of positive feedback here (Nesmer, Mack, Woolston) etc would offer at least a portion, if not the whole work for free. No one is getting rich from lit and if you want people to read a nobody you can’t expect them to pay for it.

In hindsight I regret loosing my cool on several of my critics back when I used to shill on this board. It's the people who never really posted anything but then would talk about my books in other threads unprompted that really made it worth while though, I really can't describe how much that meant to me.
>>
>>24886670
Many such cases. Sad!
>>
>>24886685
I wish I had critics with enough vitriol to try and make me lose my cool. I guess the happy truth is that I write well and so there isn't much cause to go after me.
>>
>>24886709
Post your stuff. There's only one guy on /lit/ who I would never talk shit about, honestly imo he might well be the voice of our generation, but I doubt you're him.
>>
>>24884813
Yeah, post it

Here's a puzzle box. Seek post No.24884789. Take words 15 and 18. Search them on either the website named after a long river or the site named after quality books.
>>
>>24886747
>on
>into
Yeah I'm not going to search that on Amazon but you're insufferable and I've seen enough to make up my mind about you.
>>
>>24886761
You've failed to open the box.
>>
That's just life as an author. If you ever publish anything you'll understand.
>>
>>24886783
Whatever reviewer you paid to write your blurb just ran a prompt through ChatGPT.
>A genre-fluid filmmaker
woof lad

Its fine.

>If can you come away from 4chan's resident critics unscathed, you've already made it.
What do you mean by "come away unscathed"? If Rupi Kaur came here and saw us shitting on her poems and made a cope about how we're "all incels anyway," would that meet your requirements for coming out unscathed?
>>
>>24886852
I mean, she wouldn't be wrong would she?
>>
>>24886862
Nah, I have sex AND her poems are shit. She'd be wrong on both fronts.
>>
>>24886852
If Rupi Kaur posted here in earnest I'd like to think we'd all come together to unanimously tell her to fuck off

Thanks for pointing this out anon, I'm going to kick up a stink about it. But what's wrong with being genre-fluid?

If you are buying an ad that is perfectly legitimate. Doesnt mean i find the people who do reputable
