Just like that show its starts out with a great immersive/realistic apocalyptic hook line + very well defined/flavorful sense of place (in this case Maine NYC and some other spots instead of deep south Georgia), and then totally throws it all away once the various characters link up and devolves into petty drama and fantasy nonsense.

Fuck me there's a lot of angry haters in this thread. It's a very good book, it's popular for a reason. It suffers from a dumb ending like most King books but it's entertaining throughout.
