Are you an expert in any field or a mere jack of all trades and sophomoric dabbler?

I really like reading about the Corona de Aragón and the crusader states but I would not consider myself an expert. I am studying history and wanna specialize in medieval history. I've also considered going into Classics but my autism is more suited for medieval studies.

I distinctly remember this pasta mentioning that the guy plays Pharaoh (1999) on his spare time. Mandela effect

I refuse to believe that an otherwise intelligent man would specialize in fucking Husserl.

Stop trying to become a normie sophist, they will never care. Get as far away from people as possible.

The guy replying asked if he wanted to play a game and then the husserl guy responded to that saying he only plays Pharaoh

I'm not good at anything but reading is fun
>>
No I'm not an expert in any field but I focus my time on French and French literature and to a lesser degree, Old Icelandic and Old Icelandic literature, but in both fields I am nowhere near an expert, just a motivated beginner

This is the true peril of living in a society that values economic productivity and utility above all else. Being the most well-informed Husserl scholar in North America is a much more impressive achievement than making a couple million dollars because you got lucky betting stock options or whatever. Yet anon feels like a miserable failure because his accomplishments have no economic utility.

Thankfully the world's definition of success isn't shared by God.

"But one thing is necessary." (Luke 10:42) What is this one thing necessary? It is not necessary to acquire riches, nor to obtain dignities, nor to gain a great name. The only thing necessary is to love God. Whatever is not done for the love of God is lost.

This is the greatest and the first commandment of the divine law. To the Pharisee who asked what is the greatest commandment of the law, Jesus Christ answered: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart ... This is the greatest and first commandment." (Matthew 22:37,38)

But this, which is the greatest of the commandments, is the most despised by men: there are few who fulfil it. The greater part of men love their relatives, their friends, and even brute animals, but do not love God.

Generalization isn't sophomoric. Specialization is anti-human.
